Title: prussian grenadier guard any difference?

Is there are any difference between 1870 prussian grenadier guard uniform and line infantry uniform???!!!

Probably just something about facing colours? I don't know, but it struck me....

If I recall correctly the 'cut' of the uniform is the same but the facings and the decoration of the pickelhaube are different. Not sure about eqipment though. Just tried to check my Osprey book but cant find it. Sorry cant be more help.

Dress uniform had a mitre cap with a pom-pom (Grenadiermütze) giving them a very 18th Century appearance. Now normally this wouldn't make any difference to a wargaming figure, but crazy as it may sound, there are reports of them actually fighting in those silly party hats, at First Ypres in 1914!

That "Semper Talis" there isn't exactly the most inspiring motto you've ever heard, is it? Seems more suited as the motto of a faded and rainy Welsh seaside resort  than a bunch of dashing Guard Grenadiers.
