Title: Modern arctic explorers
Post by: uti long smile on 01 May 2010, 02:08:12 PM
I've got the great Copplestone Pulp explorers but can anyone recommend any modern ranges dressed in winter gear, suitable for gaming 'The Thing'?

Somebody does some 28mm figures based on Ice Station Zebra, with modern weapons etc.
But, right now I can't remember the name of the company ::)

There was also a nice Thing game on at Warfare in reading either last year or the year before. I am sure it was featured here as well, maybe worth trawling back through the old threads.

Regiment games. They may be nice sculpts but the painted examples on the website can't help sales much.

Cheers all - much appreciated.

Perfect - but ouch! -those paint jobs give me serious pause for thought?

Is there any casting detail underneath that?

If you don't mind useing a few larger scale figures AT 43 has a set in operation frostbite that had a few that would work.

Not exactly modern but what about the HLBS guys on skis that Tiger now have. They would only need a little work to look ok.

The 28mm HLBSC arctic ranges are still available from, I believe, Tiger miniatures...

They are quite nice btw...

Those are great minis, good sculpts. The Great White North range as a whole - brilliant. I think they did modern hunters in winter gear - these might work.

And don't forget the Copplestone Snow-Cat!
