Title: Killigrew and the Northwest Passage
Post by: Mancha on 11 June 2007, 03:02:04 PM
Hi All,

It’s been at least two years since I’ve picked up a brush.  A litter of half-painted minis gather dust on my painted desk.  I can’t really explain why I lost interest in painting, although I’ve tried to elsewhere.  As much as painting was sort of my life for a while, it was surprisingly easy to abandon.  For the last year of my hiatus, however, I’ve been drawing inspiration from this particular forum.

My reading of “Killigrew and the Northwest Passage” suddenly made me desire to convert and paint a Killigrew mini.  Although I doubt the uniform is correct, I had nowhere to turn to but Copplestone Castings, and I slapped some green stuff on this guy.

Hope you like him.  Hope my next paintjob isn’t an additional two years away.

That looks great! I´ve got the same figure right here, and you did a great job with the overcoat.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words.

I chose green gloves because green is a good complimentary color to red.  And the red looked odd with the blue, and needed something to make it stand out a little better.  Also, I pictured the gloves as being utilitarian rather than decorative, and when I think "utilitarian", I think green.

There are a number of things I don't like about my paintjob (the sword hilt absolutely sucks), and in the old days I would have compulsively fixed them.  The green gloves are actually in this list of things I would have fixed.  Nowadays, however, I'm just satisfied to have taken a paintjob so far.   :)
