Well,
I've gone and done it. After being inspired by Plynkes' adventures in Darkest Africa, and reading 'Toutou and Mimi go Forth', I've bought a bloody boat. Not a cheap one either.
My purchase is the top one.

Of course I had to sell my wife and mortgage my son but with the current exchange rate I couldn't resist. As I said Plynkes, I have you sir to thank!
Now I need a crew and marines. Any suggestions on models?

Thats a lovely ship General, and those are all a lovely set of models. I especially like the chinese junks.
I wonder if they would take a wife and two young children for one of them
-
I agree with you about the junks Lowtardog. I just can't afford to start a south china sea campaign. Lends itself nicely to pulp campaign doesn't it?
-
I always get the blame for everything around here! :)
Looks like a beaut. Almost the same design as my Königin Luise, but with slightly more firepower. Have fun with your battles, and report back when you do, Officer M@yhem!
-
That reminds me Plynkes. Where are your little launches from? The ones in your 'African Queen' report? :)
I apologise for blatently copying you but you've got some great stuff!

From Old Glory. They are actually models of the real Mimi and Toutou from the Tanganyika actions.
Old Glory UK stock them:

Blimey, twenty-five quid each! I can't believe they were that dear when I bought them. Oh well, that ain't much if you've the budget for Richard Houston ships, I suppose!

Correction. My credit card had the budget for Richard Houston and I'm still waking up in a cold sweat about it. The matter of paying my card off is something that I'm putting off until I feel in a 'safe place'
I think I'll wait awhile before getting these!

Nice one General. Will look forward to your report some time in the future. My second boat Toutou is now completed so now I can now contest the lake with the Germans. However, I'll just use my generic gunboat for the Germans as you may have seen.

No I haven't seen it Helen. If you can point me in the right direction as any ideas/hints about painting/looks are gratefully received. :)

Hi Gen. here is a pic taken from our convention game based on Gallipoli. You can see more of these pics in the Gallipoli Photos under the WW1 & WW2 heading. The boats were painted by my good friend Leroy Simpson. I hope to get some more pics up soon.

Fantastic pics Helen. The set up looks amazing. It makes me feel like snapping my paint brush and finding a dark place to curl up in and blubber! :(

Is there no icon for *standing ovation*?

Thanks guys :)
I hope to have more pics up soon.
God Bless
