Am I the only one having some misgivings about this idea of an Alamo expansion? I've looked over the book and would like an excuse to paint up some of the figures, but I'm not sure this viable as a setting for repeated gaming. The main board would be costly or at least time consuming. The figures numerous and limited in utility for regular Western games, and I can't imagine convincing enough other people to join in the project to make it work.
Has anyone here attempted such a game yet?

The interesting thing about the Texas Revolution is that it's infinitely gameable. A lot of the smaller actions were between bands of Mexican cavalry and mounted volunteers. Plus the anarchic arrangement of the militia-based Texas army made for a lot of political intrigue.
I have no idea how the LotW expansion will work, but it's a fascinating period.

Hi,
I think the rulebook is good and it has potential. I will use it for all kinds of wars on the american continent. One of my next projects will be The Maximilian Adventure. I can use the Minis I use for Alamo, some of the Mexican at least. I will also do the Alamo in smaller scale and the Mexican Revolution from the early twentieth century.
The Minis Alex posted look nice, but I will definately not buy them. I have the foundry Mountain Men and some other westerners I can use.

I have been gaming the Texas war of independence for some time using the Old Glory Alamo range and Brother against Brother rules. We have played probably 10 -12 games over the last couple of years and not once done the Alamo.
As Pete says there is lots of potential for small skirmish actions. Its a fascinating period. The new Artizan figures are nice. But mine are better!
( only joking  )
