Title: The Night Patrol a .45 Adventure Gamereport !
Post by: Driscoles on 05 August 2006, 12:17:34 AM
Hello,

on friday evening some friends of mine and me played . 45 Adventure. Karsten, Jens and Michael were all new to the rules and also new to Pulp.

Karsten and Michael are mainly miniatures painters and Jens creates great scenery from Pardulon.

Today all three had to get along with my painted figures and scenery.

I decided to present a two story adventure. A very simple introduction Adventure were you learn to move and turn up eventmarkers and a simple fight. A sniper shot !

And a second adventure with some surprises for the gaming group. All three played the good guys. Some German soldiers in France.

The time is May 1940. The German Army blitzes thru France. Feldwebel Heinze a veteran from the Poland War eight month ago and the 6 survivors of his Gruppe have orders to find Hauptmann Koschnik who was expected to return at sundown but is missing for a couple of hours now.

“ I know you two are no big friends Feldwebel but I want you to find Hauptmann Koschnik or we are in trouble “ said Major Reinhard the Bataillon commander “ His father has some influence in Berlin and you know what that means”.

Heinze scratched his neck. His forehead in wrinkles. “ I get it Sir “ Than his fingernails scratched over his unshaven chin. “ No one would miss this bastard, Sir …Not even his wife “

“Heinze, I know you don’t like the Offizierskorps but we are the German Army and we follow orders and you are part of this army, understood ?”

“Yes Sir. I will find him ! I promise “

Outside the old Farmbuilding Heinze lit his smoke. He shouldered his MP 40 and walked to his men. “ Obergefreiter Wenzel ! I want the men ready in 10 minutes. We will go on a Night Patrol “

Wenzel rubbed his tired feet. “ A night patrol. Are you serious Walter. We marched 50 miles today …”

“Get ready Wenzel….We are the German Army.” He snapped away his smoke and started to laugh.

The Germans were a group of 7 figures. There order was to find Koschnik and bring him back save.

Feldwebel Heinze Grade 2 NCO
Obergefreiter Wenzel and Gefreiter Biel both Grade 1 veteran soldiers.
Soldaten Müller, Kammerer, Dorner and Fichtel Half Grade Green Soldiers.

In the first adventure there were no real enemies. Just six encounters. There mission was to find Hauptmann Koschnik. They entered the board on one side and had to go to all encounters.

We had the following encounters. A sniper shot, a corpse ( who found it  had to make a Guttest ), an empty car ( Hauptmann Koschniks Staff car ) and three nothing encounter.

The guys managed to get safe to all encounters. They didn’t find the Hauptmann but Soldat Kammerer found the corpse that was mutilated. He  didn’t care much about it. Here are the pics :

Karsten moves his Figures while Feldwebel Heinze watched. I wanted Michael to play Heinze cuz he really spent some time in the army

Heinze on the left and two of his men advance !

They find Koschniks car, but where is the darn Hauptmann...

The next board was also a forrest board. There was also a small stream on the other side of the board. The players were allowed to place there figures and the event markers. I didn’t place my figures. Instead of figures I had cards. The Diamond and Queen of hearts represented a Wolfpack of two wolfes each ( half grades from the rulesbook ). When the players moved a soldier I turned a card when the Queens showed up I placed the Wolfes anywere on the board 10 inches away from a figure. There was a second stack of cards. All with red cards but one black card. The Ace Of Spades. This card represented a Loup Garou. A big bad and hungry Werewolf. The second stack was turned when the first one was completed !

I also had six encounters. Another corpse, a Mine, a sniper, Hauptmann Koschnik, A car wreck with family silver ( at least one Knife was in it and Feldwebel Heinze was a short blade expert ( this was the weapon to kill or at least wound the Loup Garou and keep him away from Hauptmann Koschnik and the other Soldiers ….) and last but least a Nothing event !

The players had nearly no chances to win…but hey…  The Feldwebel only promised to find the Hauptmann.

The board :

The Wolfes are attacking. Kammerer fires his K98.

Meanwhile Heinze finds another mutilated corpse.

And the German soldiers discover something they can not believe...

Unfortunately Soldat Müller steps on a mine.

Wenzel finds the Hauptmann. His whole body is shaken and he is in panic.

Easy Sir, we get you out of here !

When the Loup Garou charged Dörner and Fichtel turn and run away in terror. Obergefreiter Wenzel and Gefreiter Biel die while fullfilling there duty but they can not save the Hauptmann !

Feldwebel Heinze survived the night patrol. And so did the young soldiers Dorner and Fichtel. They will avenge there Kammeraden !

I hope you liked the gaming report. I think I will continue this story soon.
If you see no pictures yet its displaced miniatures his fault. please come back later.

If you have questions please ask. The miniatures are Foundry and Westwind.

Auf Wiedersehen und gute Nacht Herr Hauptmann !

Driscoles,

What a great game report! It sounds like a lot of fun. It sounds like the first reel of a cool WWII horror movie. The soldiers didn't have a chance, but now word of the Loup Garou will spread.

What hero will step forward to stop the mighty beast?

And I love the pic of the werewolf grabbing the soldiers head!

what kind of stats did you come up with for the Loup Garou?

Hi Mo,

thanks for your kind reply.

Here is the stat line for the Loup Garou :

Brain 3, Brawn 5 (6 ), Guts 8, Heater 1, Shiv 5, Dodge 5, Speed 8

DR 7 on all Bodyparts

Skills : Stealth, Cause Fear 3, Ferocious +2, Weakness ( 3 x Dam / Silver )
High Strength ( + 1 BW see above ), multiple Attacks ( Claw + Bite ), Leap

One reason why I like  Richs rules is because with the rule and skill systhem I can create everything I want. We already played Indiana Jones, Flash Gordon, Crime Stories, Cthulhu and this Horror Game. Everything is possible !

We have the magnificent 7 on tv right now... With this adventure in mind and the tv show ahead i guess I will get not much sleep tonite.

Cheers buddy
Björn

Yep. That's the same reason I started playing them. Plus, anything that is not already spelled out is more than likely going to get it's own rules sooner or later.

It was a great read and some cool pictures to go along with it. The terrain boards you had were fantastic.

I hope everyone had a good time.

I love those terrain boards. As I intend to build some boards myself: what size are your boards? Looks like there is some kind of wood frame at the bottom of the boards, right? And foam core at the top?

Cheers,
Hagen

Thank you Hagen,
You are right.
The size is 60 x 60 cm
You can use both boards together for a larger scale adventure.
And I can use the boards for Hordes of the Things too.

Next I will do a quay with a Warehouse and Iam planning on
an arctic U Boot base....

Great pictures and great report. I'm looking forward to try the rules myself one day.
I love the 60x60 boards, they are great to store and you can pull all stops building them.

Next I will do a quay with a Warehouse....

Exactly what I am working on (60x60 btw). But I'm still searching for a nice warehouse...  Anyway: I know myself - it will take ages before this will be ready for gaming....  :?

Tks Dom and Mike !

@Hagen
Jens from Pardulon schowed me his new brick wall elements. They look great.
He also has steel doors, pipes and such things.
I was either thinking of making my own walls and equip them with Pardulon doors and pipes or if its not getting too expensive I will use his brick wall elements too.

Please show me pictures when you are finnished.

If you have questions please ask.

I indeed have a question. This topic was lost for me until talked about it again and I think it is a very good introductory scenario for AWS. My question is: you talk about decks of cards in the second part to draw the wolves and Loup but, how many cards in each deck?

Thanks!

It was a deck of 14 cards. You need the Ace Of Spades for the Loup and two other cards of your desire for the wolfes.
Every Time a soldier is moved you pick a card. When the specified cards are picked you place the creatures not closer than 10 " away from the soldiers.
Cheers
