Title: Boneshaker by Cherie Priest
Post by: zebcook on May 15, 2010, 03:02:20 AM
Just got back from a long flight which seems to be my best time for reading. I highly recommend "Boneshaker", a fine steam novel.

It's the 1880's Seattle. The ACW is still going, there's airships, tunneling machines, Chinamen, a mad scientist, and zombies. It's a crazy mix done in a good rousing way and the author manages to create a pretty consistent setting -- pulpy and vsf-ish without getting magicy.

Well worth a read.

I was tempted to buy it and read it, but I'm too busy with the actual VSF literature!
I might buy it and stick it on the shelf for later though.

Never seen that one before. Thanks for the tip - I'll look for a cheap second hand copy  :D
