I've finished my first Volunteer unit for the Zulu War British army I'm slowly building up. The horses are a joy to paint up, vastly superior to your standard 'wargames horse'.

The Natal Carbineers mounted for action.

And in dismounted skirmish order.

Nice!
They look a lot more appealing in colour over the metals to me. Hadn't really fancied any of these before.

I expect that's true of most figures, you know, Svennn. In my case though, some look better before I've painted them..... :?

Actually I found six Zulus in a draw in GHQ today, you must be psychic! They are preped and sprayed up now for painting next week. I'm still on Lord Rawnsley at the moment ~ very pink! :D

Lovely work David an I love the dismounted set.

They really look sharp. Nice work them.

How do these compare, sizewise to Perry's Sudan British hussars

I based mine for my own Zulu War rules, which are in the final stage of development. Mounted bases are as you see them, 2 or 3 figures on an 80mm x 50mm base, 2 or 3 dismounted figures on a base40mm x 50mm. I use railway type ballast, fine and medium mixes with larger 'rocks' to taste ~ all from Hobbycraft ~ and garden twine 'long grass' ~ much cheaper than the imported stuff!
