Looks like fun, wish I'd been able to go :(

Ever wondered what a U-boat looked like to the Fairey Swordfish pilot?

Glum looking Kapitän, but a rather jolly looking torpedo, don't you agree?
I normally don't shout online but *STONKING* show, lads. My head is positively bursting with new ideas on how to put some oomph in my projects.

Three cheers for the Northern LAFers. Looks like a great weekend, and apparently just over in time before the Vicious Ash CloudTM stroke again...
-
Great stuff chaps :D :D :D
Looking forward to the report Paul (my 'puters not letting me play the vids :( )
cheers
James
-
Great pictures `ihr Seeleute´.
Looking forward to see the rest. Especially why I was so busy and didnt make a single picture myself.
Cheers
Björn

Hi,
I´m also looking forward for more pictures. This was a wounderful weekend with a lot of fun and new people to get to know. :)
It seems that obviously I missed something not visiting the submarine.
:(
Cheers
Volker
-
I agree to everything said before. And I'm really sorry not to have come with you guys to the submarine. I had the pleasure of correcting history tests at home... :-[
However, good to see you guys had so much fun. I certainly hope to see you around again.

There he is! I hope we get to see more of you here on LAF in the future. The rest of you: this man is hence forward under a special blessing by me and, I dare think, Argonor.

First day, the little cottage in the woods...
Hänsel und Gretel didn't show up. So bollocks to them, let's play Grimm's 45. Adventures Innsmouth game.
Didn't take much in the way of photos of gaming, was too busy having fun (D6: 1-4) or coughing my guts up (5-6).
Second day...

Wings of War: "Tricky Luigi" the famous Italian ace (seated, right) confounds both the Entente and Central Powers with a skilled display of precision side-changing and synchronised surrendering. (Apologies to our Italian friends - only stereotypes were allowed at this table :))
-
The skill is "improved surrender". :D
That's what you get when you are really drunk and try to read through the good old D&D 3.5. rulebook. Anyway, I found this skill to be the most useless one...
-
Of course! I forgot "Improved Surrender!" (put it down to the beer). Every game should have this skill.

Sunday was a day filled with more than a little anxiety for the Brits, as reports came in of the deteriorating situation at the British airports. But thankfully our hosts did a grand job taking our minds off it with a U-Boot trip.
Tellus and Grimm swap Rock n' Roll Wrestling moves, while Karsten scans the skies for signs of the ash cloud...

Björn acting the goat again. The speech bubbles aren't too far from the truth. That is actually what he was doing at this point.

Looking southwest (ish?) from the top of the memorial towards Kiel.

And in the other direction out into the Baltic.

About all I got to see of Hamburg.
In the exciting climax of the movie, the British LAFers scrape through into Gatwick in the nick of time, just ahead of the ash cloud...

Thanks to all those who put in the hard work to organise this smashing weekend, putting on games, sorting out venues and food and drink, driving us Brits around like we were lord and lady muck, putting folks up in their houses, and anything else I've forgotten. Thanks also to everybody, German, Swede, Dane* (and Anglo-Dane) and Brit, for the priceless gift of a long weekend's worth of fellowship. That's something you can't buy online or in a gaming store.
*Except Thorbjørn, of course. ;)
-
Ahhh, thank you for all those nice photos!
And plynkenheimer: I'll make sure to send you aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall my best VSF links. ;)

Would have loved to come up and taking part in this seemingly priceless adventure. The more as you guys obviously had fun and sunshine as well. Much better than being imprisoned at university in rainy Paderborn. :'(
Great stuff everyone, thanks for sharing the photos.

Don't think it is me, although it would be typical. I didn't lose my backpack until Stockholm.

The day three expedition...

more to come, still working on the photos but I expect to have an extensive report up by the weekend.
-
This is a wonderful photo report. Thank you !
-
Always a solemn thing to visit war memorials. All those ship on the wall... Very grafic, since you know there were so many men on board.
I am glad you caught on camera some of the model ships Admiral Benbow built over the weekend. He was working so fast they turned all blurry on my pictures.
-
I would appear that we Danes missed out having a great time on Sunday.
It would also appear that I've managed to dodge every photographer present at the GLAM this year. Which is not a bad thing. lol

What really concerns me is that now it's been conceived, Rule 34 will come into effect....
-
Looks like you guys had a really great time.
Hope it was a good one! :)

There's been a lot of talk and pictures of curry wurst but I feel I have to say that Mother of Vikotnik makes the kind of Kartoffelsalad mitt Frikadellen which surely is served at the table of Wotan.

Here, here, the Kartoffelsalad was of the highest quality and was quite delicious. I certainly ate my fill as Karsten knows, however poor Tellus was the recipient of the after effects later that evening... ::)

What a great report, and this was only the first part!
Thanks for putting this up!
-
Paul's (matakishi's) reminds me again, from new angles, how very, very helpful and friendly our German hosts were/are. Can't be said enough.
-
GLAM sounds splendid. A roast pig, copious beer and lovely games..
Is there a little icon button to press for 'envy'? lol
-
I was a great weekend :-* thanks to everyone, who made this gathering a great success.
I was also very educational - I learned something about Sherry, Port and Cheese ;)

-
Great report, and I'm glad you had fun at my game!
-
Excellent report, Matakishi! Reading it felt like being there a second time. :)
I was thrilled to put faces to names/nicks especially regarding our international guests
Actually playing on a few boards I had missed on past conventions was an added bonus.

Thanks for the nice report Matakishi

Hey, mata, that evil eye look you caught on camera, t'weren't about you, I think. I was probably because of that heavy machine gun which took down most of my scavengers. That, or the just having been identified for the umpteenth fucking time as 'the guy who swears a lot on the forum'.

I realise that Hammers, just having a bit of fun at the expense of your Viking scowl :D
The machine gun paid for its temerity.
