Title: The last survivor...
Post by: tom_aargau on 18 May 2010, 06:53:35 PM
Long are the times of Cygnar glory gone, bright blue and gold shining in the sun...the last warjack struggles on, in desperate need of a new coat of paint :)

Actually, this is the last figure from a box I bought years ago, and only now finished painting

Now that is weathered! It makes my own Cygnar warjacks look fresh off the assembly line! How did you do it?

Great story on his looks, really catches the feel of the last of a lost empire.

Great effect, how many coats and hours did it take?

Thanks

Total painting time between two to three hours over three nights (not including cleaning the airbrush :( )

Basecoat black, first coat rust (all airbrushed)

Let it dry

Hairspray (not smelly)

Topoat of dessert yellow (airbrushed)

Worked over with a wet brush (takes part of the topcoat of)

Wash with sepia

Apply Tamiya pastels (sand)

Paint eyes

And that's it (basically what I do with tanks/cars, first time tried it on a warjack)

Nice! I have always sucked at doing rust and wear on vehicles-will have to try this!
