Hello,
I'm interested in gaming the battle of Bukoba (Africa 1915) but I cant find the german OB. Does anyone has information on this matter ?
On the british side, the 25th (Frontiersmen) batallion, Royal Fusilier took part in the battle. I read it was an irregular force. Does someone know what kind of dress they wore ?
Thank you for your help :)

Here's a pic of Fred Selous and his 25th Royal "Boozaliers" for you:

Apart from Fred himself doing his best Allan Quatermain impression, their appearance is disappointingly regular, isn't it?
I'm thinking Gripping Beast/Woodbine Brits would be your best bet, if you are of a 28mm frame of mind.

:( Booooo.....I imagined I could have used Boers or Big game hunters figures :'(

Two different books I have agree that the garrison of Bukoba was 300-strong. It would appear that in June 1915 the garrison (in peacetime usually 7.FK, I guess they were busy elsewhere) was Abteilung Bukoba, which consisted of 'C' Kompagnie and 7.Reserve Kompagnie. It would seem letter-named companies were temporary cobbled-together units, while the reserve company consisted of older, former askari now serving as reservists. Four machine guns and three field guns of indeterminate type also, plus it seems there were about 500 Ruga-Ruga on the garrison's books, but I don't recall any mention of them doing anything in the battle. I'll have to check that.
Edit: I should say that the above-mentioned regular infantry force consisted of about 60 European officers and NCOs, the remainder being Askari.

I have that German OOB (a half SchK and 7.FK) for March 1915, but the one I listed above as being in place by June, when the battle took place. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. These things can be a bit vague.
-
But it doesn't make all that much difference which is correct, as the numbers are roughly the same with both OOB. :)

I have all issues of WI but I don't remember this game :?

By the way, you awoke my curiosity about Bagamoyo. Anyone get a link on a article about this battle ?
I have been unable to find anything :?
