Title: Win a June Summers mini
Post by: leonmallett on 31 May 2010, 08:26:20 PM
I have a spare unpainted Pulp City June Summers mini that I am making available through a contest. The deadline for entries runs until 23:59 GMT on June 21st.

See this blog post on the Pulp Citizen (here (http://pulp-citizen.blogspot.com/2010/05/june-summers-contest.html)) for the rules of entry.

Good luck to any entrants, and special thanks to Beermonkey, Varagon and John S. for agreeing to judge it.

Entries have slowly started to come in; there are just under 2 weeks remaining to enter, so don't hesitate.  :)

Remember there is no obligation except joining the blog or the Pulp City Forum and creating your entry. Full rules in the link below.

Around 3 and a half days remaining to get entries in. Only a small number of entries so far.

If you don't enter you don't get a chance to win; so go ahead, write something down - be 'in it to win it'!  :D

Entries should be sent to pulpcitizen@hotmail.co.uk and subject marked ‘June Summers Contest’.

Contest Rules
- Prize: an unpainted June Summers miniature.
- The judging panel will judge the entries blind, and I will only be involved in case of a tie (or possibly a nominated other in my place).
- The contest is open to any member of the (Pulp Citizen) blog or Forum; entries must include blog Follower name or Forum member name. Entries without at least one of these will be disqualified and rejected - no exceptions.
- Judges are not permitted to enter the contest, and Heralds have been discouraged from entering.
- Entries should be an original text piece describing or featuring a location or non-Supreme character in Pulp City: a diner or coffee shop, haunted street corner, famous nightclub, etc...; or a non-Supreme Celebrity or person of interest: like June Summers, famous snitch, fortune teller or the like. The focus of the entry can be an existing feature or character, or something brand-new. Entries using Intellectual Property belonging to any entity other than Pulp Monsters will be disqualified and rejected. Descriptive and narrative entries are both welcome.
- Entries must be between 100 and 500 words in length, excluding a title. Any entries outside of these lengths will be penalized.
- Only one entry per person.
- In entering the contest entrants are agreeing that their entries may be published with full authority on the Pulp City Forum and/or the Pulp Citizen blog.
- Entries published outside of the contest before the results are determined will be disqualified and rejected.
- Entries should be sent to pulpcitizen@hotmail.co.uk and subject marked ‘June Summers Contest’; emails without this subject will be ignored.
- I may add a runner-up prize if more entries than expected are received.
- The final deadline for entries is 23:59 GMT on June 21st. Entries received after this will be disqualified and rejected.

...Only a small number of entries so far.

Hope it all goes well, but just reading the rules I'm not surprised there are just a few entries.  Lot of hoops and hurdles to go through for the chance to win a single miniature.   ::)  More for those already "into it" than raising interest in others methinks.

As I say though, hope it goes well and your efforts are rewarded.  :)

Possibly, rules are for fairness.

Basically the contest is 'write something between 100-500 words about the city or one of its denizens and send it to the email address listed  with subject marked: June Summers Contest by the closing date'.

:)

To anyone else who may be interested: just a final reminder about the contest deadline that is tonight, 23:59 GMT - only a few entries so far, so the only chance to win in this contest is to get an entry in!

To enter, basically write something between 100 and 500 words about a location or a non-Supreme character in Pulp City, and then mark your subject 'June Summers Contest' (helps me filter spam) and include your Pulp City Forum or Pulp Citizen blog name and send your entry to:

My 3 judges have given me a three way dead heat; so i am asking someone else if he can judge - so hopefully soon.

Despite the best efforts of my valiant independent judging panel (Beermonkey, Varagon and John S. from the Pulp City Forum - thanks so very much guys, I really appreciate your help!), I was left with an evenly tied result. This meant calling in a special extra judge to break the tie.

So I asked Morf (creator of Pulp City), and this was his verdict:

Quote
I like the Wong’s Emporium the best ;)
Seems almost like a location I would come up with!

Morf came up with his decision based on the favoured results of the judges. The winning entry he selected is by Rob Bresnen, a member of LAF and more pertinently my main gaming buddy, which is why the entries were judged blind, and I had no influence on the judging.

The entries can be found here (http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B4jnxeEycAFnYjI5NzhjNmYtYTI4YS00M2I1LTk3ZTctN2M2YTM1NDI3MTFi&hl=en&authkey=COK15NkN).
