As promised, here's what a box of 40 can be turned into - together at last... ;)
I've made a start on a second box, although I'm really waiting for the second set (pikes, crossbows, handguns) to be released... Impatiently... ::)
The houses, by the way, are two of the new Grand Manner medieval models from a range of about 15 new buildings sculpted by Tony dampfpanzerwagen, sometime of this forum - amongst others.
I have to say, after the fabled Forgeworld coaching inn, these are the very finest model timbered buildings I've had the pleasure of owning and painting, and are a perfect fit for WOTR.
So Tony, if you're looking, well done and thanks. Lovely work :)

Amazing as usual.
But you better stop producing this much quality stuff with this pace or I'll have to quit the hobby out of pure performance anxiety ;)
-
They look VERY impressive !!!
-
What a colorful bunch of brigands lol
Good work Richard 8)

Wow! :-* This actually make me glad I've only butchered a handful of my box. Once I clear out a bit of my backlog I am going to sit down with these pictures in front of me and consciously attempt to ape some of your tecnique. Should work about as well as Ronald McDonald trying to do Cordon Bleu!
-
what a beauty!!! splendid!
-
They are very inspiring. Awesome painting too. Well done! :)
-
Beautiful. You are far too prolific and talented.
-
You really make those faces come alive!

You really make those faces come alive!
I agree. In the last two images especially, it's not hard to imagine that they are real people.
-
:o :-* (speechless)
-
Richard, what should I say: absolutely superb!
I'll get myself a box. What beauties.
:-* :o :-*
-
WOW
-
the perry twins must love you Captain. even ive gone and bought a couple of these boxes lol
-
Amazing minis...
Which, of course, we have come to expect from your marvelous brush!
:-*
-
I resisted before Cap't, but you've sold me on these. Box ordered. Can't wait to get my hands on them. :o
-
really awesome. i've seen those minis unpainted, but you gave them another live! :P
-
Thanks chaps :)
I'm really not a marketing agent for the Perrys!
In fact, I did send them some of my pics - and didn't get a reply ::)
But these really are superb figures and wonderful fun to assemble, fiddle with and convert with minimal effort into all sorts of poses.
If anyone has bought a box on the back of my efforts, I sincerely hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
-
You plan to expand your collection, Captn?
If so... I might have a real good deal for you. ;)
-
You know, you can really go off some people... ;)
Absolutely brilliant as ever, they look even better en masse than they do in their seperate retinues. I guess that is kind of the point of them though... Anyway, my brushes are on their way to the bin as we speak.
-
Considering converting my brushes to chopsticks..................Outstanding work yet again Captain. :-*
-
Very nicely done.
If they ever need a good home...

From Tony,
Thank you for the very kind comments, these are the first Medieval Town Hoses I have seen painted. You have done a wonderful job on the buildings and a fantastic paint job on the miniatures, once again - thank you for the kind comments and thanks for the link.

Not my cup of tea.
But that's only for my lack of interest in your British rose wars. If you labelled them as anything Continental, I would be in. lol
Great stuff, like the unarmoured chaps with soft hats a lot - their faces and simple clothing shows best your mastery of expressive painting. :-*
-
You make it so tempting to jump into this period. Lovely work on this box. The faces do really stand out.
-
great colours, really great colours :)
and oohhh so matte 8)
-
WOW!!! :-*
-
There excellent, very well done
-
Thanks again chaps :)

Hmmm... Truthfully Ray, not by too much. I already have a second box of the bows + bills, and I'll get a box of the mercenaries when they come out, and a box of the armoured cavalry. And I've already got several of the metal personality packs and no doubt will get a few of the metal men-at-arms recently previewed - so that'll be something like 150 foot figures and 30 mounted figures. I'll probably never need more than that... ::)
But thanks for making the offer anyway (whatever it was!) ;)
-
you made another victim, i decided to buy a box of them.... feel guilty, they will be destinated to be a part of my lead mountain (even if in plastic XD)
-
You may not make me buy any of the figures but you do make the buildings all the more interesting to me.
Wonderful work, Captain!
-
These are great. Really excellent painting and a great spectacle en masse.
Still untempted by plastics though. It's the fiddle-factor and time involved. Wonder if I would feel differently if I bought a box?

They are. Which varnish was used?

Well I did.
For 15 quid, it's worth a go. I can only tell you OT that I was a massive plastic-sceptic - and truthfully, I've bought one or two other boxes of plastics and I'm not impressed.
But these particular figures are simply amongst the best I've ever worked with - material immaterial!

W&N Galeria matt varnish.

Mmm. Might take a look then. Then again, so much to paint; so little time available for painting... :?
W&N Galeria matt varnish.
Thought that's what you use. :) Mine always dries with a slight sheen. ::) (Still happy with DR, but like to know of alternatives.)

I can only echo CB's sentiments re plastics. I was a skeptic also until I saw his work here. What it boils down to is if there are any plastics on the market you would like it is the Perry offerings. I've since picked up a couple of boxes of Napoleonic cavalry and they unsurprisingly have the same high quality and ease of assembly.
-
i would love to buy some boxes of the wotr... is there only that one?

So far, yes. A second box (crossbows, handguns, pikes) is due out around October this year. A third box (mounted armoured knights) will follow in 2011.

inspirational work
Colors are so vibrant
-
Absolutely inspiring Captain!
Makes me want to get out my unpainted Perry's now!
Cheers
Matt

Thank you.
Slightly surprised to see this thread back after 8 years lol
(Good grief - where did the last decade go?!! :o)
If you like this, then you'll probably like my fuller Perry WOTR thread which followed this one...

But I warn you - it's a long read with an awful lot of pictures!
