I have just finished making and painting some fantasy Orcs! THey are all now up in the shop.
First up are the archers:

I have also done a Bolt Thrower and Crew.

Along with this is a Hill Giant.

Hope you like, comment welcome as usual! Im actually painting up 112 of the archers, plus 2 giants, 8 bolt throwers and some shaman for gaming with. I will post up images when the army is finished.
-
Any chance of a close up on the top right archer? I like him a lot, very sinister.
-
Nice Orcs and Giant. These are your best yet, they are very cohesive and work very well.
-
My fave is the orc in the top row in the middle - great helmet! :D
-
I shall have to buy these, and paint them as mutants for NR.... lol
Football has taken the air out of my painting efforts, atm - but my summer vacation is drawing ever closer... :D
-
Boooootiful. I might get the giant for my new Ogre army.
Or just get all of them and start a O&G army... lol
-
Hey Curtis, great models. I really like the bolt thrower in particular with those cackling little goblins.
The giant looks nice and would work well for a NR super-mutant of some kind but the price seems a bit hefty.
I'm comparing it to the GW giant at 25 pounds (20 from Wayland Games) for a much larger model with more options. Not to say that yours is lacking in character (I love it) but that it feels like a lot to pay for a single (large) figure when I could get two boneyard trucks or other NR vehicles for the price. Gilgamesh isn't much smaller and is only 2.50.
I'm not trying to be critical as I love the vibe of these models and the prices on the others are solid. I'd love to make a battery of bolt throwers and a horde of toothy orcs. Looking forward to the rest of your fantasy models.
All the best,
Pete

Its a different range though, so its a different price structure. ANyway, the giant is heftier than the GW one, and at about £10 less then I still think its in line with market prices. I have another giant in the pipeline too, or actuall a much cooler conversion of this one....
-
Of course, you should set the price at what you think is best for the model and it does look really nice. I'm looking forward to the new giant also.
My point with the GW giant was that it comes with a great set of accessories from what I know so you get lots of options on a very big model. I know it's a different system but one thing I do like about GW is getting extra bits included. It doesn't make up for their prices but at least you get a good bits box out of it.
The challenge I think this model could face is that is is about 4 pounds less than the discounted GW giant model available online (for anyone who doesn't buy in store) and that makes it a tougher buy for me.
I would definitely pick it up at a lower price point but currently I'm just going to have to buy a couple of vehicles from you for the same price ;)
-
OK, the giant is now £12!
-
OMG.... negociable prices... (!) :o
-
OMG.... negociable prices... (!) :o
That way lies madness!!
-
Hey curtis,
I'm sorry if I came across rudely on your giant before. I think it's a great model and at this price, I will definitely be looking to get one or two (can't wait to see the next model). I'm already thinking about what kind of rules to use for them in Nuclear Renaissance. I think they will make for a great scenario where each gang is competing to bring them down perhaps.
Thumbs up from me.
-
Yeah, well feed back is the strength of the internets, also the fact that being a small business Im flexible. Thats how this sort of thing works I guess!
-

Everything can be used in Nuclear Renaissance :D
As I usually describe the rules: For post-apoc what Rogue Trader used to be for Sci-fi ;) 8)
-
Wow! £12, that's a bargain and a half! :D
-
I have been collecting a fantasy orc army since about 94, and over the last 5 years have been coveting a shooty army. I just finally got the desire to make it with the upcoming release of a popular fantasy game. GOd, my orc army is whapping. Ive been collecting it so long that units that I made years ago got dropped from editions of the army books, and are now back in again! Haha!
Dont worry though, I only made the orcs as a filler between waiting for the biker models to come back from the casters.(a whole range in a month, well 10 orcs, 3 gobbos, a bolt thrower, a giant and a conversion of it, 2 mounted gobbo shaman and 2 trolls!) I have the bikers painted and have just yesterday got the first cast of the latest bike done, so as soon as I get that painted up and the photos done I will have a set of post apoc bike riders.
-
Very nicely done. They are lovely figures, but a little too "GW" in style for me. I prefer my orcs a little more "Middle Earth", but I can certainly see the appeal of these chaps and they should sell well :D
-
I just added some mounted goblin shaman:

Those darned Dungers really do get everywhere :D
Great looking work Curtis!
-
An armoured sloth! :o
Brilliant! :D
-
Heh - you read my post and acted on it.
I KNEW dungers would be great for goblinoid war beasts!! lol

That warsloth is brilliant.
-
Ha, warsloth, I might trademark that!
I need to get my rear in gear and make some more wierd post apoc beasties. Tree squids and mutant gazelles Im thinking at the mo.
-
Sounds fun Curtis, more rad-mutated beasties!
I did some gap filling last night on a Privateer press model and it made me remember how fun sculpting can be. Look out for more corpse tokens or weird tree-squids from my end :)
-
It does look like a warsloth doesn't it? Good call.
-

Please do! 8)

Wow!
Really great stuff.
Sounds amazing with the army you're putting together.
I like the idea of mixing these with NR for the science fantasy feel.
Whenever I get the money I'll probably throw some at you. Although there's no way the orcs will be green. lol
-
I'd love to see a warsloth pushing or pulling a stubby little siege tower similar to the old GW chaos dwarf juggernaut :)
-
I like the giant, BUT I love the 'Mounted Goblin Shaman with Skull'. :-*
That model has some serious character!
-

That model has some serious character!
I think they both (all, actually ::) ) have. I shall have to request more gobbo cavalry. And I'll have to scratchbuild myself a Dunger Chariot lol
This fall, after moving to new house, with better room for hobbying, I should be able to get some minis moved from the painting station and onto the tables. And as the (few, true, but about to change) Ramshackle minis I've painted so far have been done in an afternoon's time, painting a few gobbos should be doable over a weekend :D
-
Now with added Goblin War Giant! woot. Oh, there is an unpainted image of the model on the shop entry, with a ruler! And the shaman goblin dude is separate.

By the way, Ive just made a dunger with mounted legs, will do a set and some more gobliny bits to go with....
-
:o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
You now officially rank among my sculpting all-stars, like Bob Murch, Mark Copplestone, Julie Guthrie, Bob Olley, Kev Adams, Andy Foster, and many more whose names I cannot remember right now....
Dunger with mounted legs... GO, Gobbos!!! :D
-
I have to say I'm loving these, they have so much character to them that seems to be missing from a lot of modern day orc/goblin scuplts.
Duncan
-
I sold most of my GW orcs and goblins a couple of years ago (including Ruglud's Armoured Orcs and some classic metal boar riders). I still have some bits and bobs left though, and I'll be painting some to be augmented by some Ramshackle sculpts for Song of Blades.
Goblin Dunger Cavalry... what's not to love??? lol
The giant with the howdah is brilliant, absolutely marvelous!!
I normally do not like resin minis much, but with such character, and at those prices, they are impossible to withstand...
The Dungers i painted so far literally painted themselves, so if sheer character is enough to make me paint fast, I have to get more ramshackle stuff as soon as my house venture allows me to spent on gaming again!!
-
Now that is a pretty darn awesome model Curtis. I could definitely see that working well in a bunch of games.
Actually right now I'm thinking of it like MasterBlaster from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. I think that could fit very nicely into Nuclear Renaissance. Yay for multi-use models.
How did the corpse markers turn out in resin? Did everything work out?
-
The war giant is great. Can't afford it with all the expense of housebuying though, but i'll be ordering a warsloth this weekend, can't resist anymore!
-
Ok, just put up the enthroned gobo shaman on his own.

Thanks for the comment, very nice to read such positive feedback. I will get on and do a unit of dungers with integral legs, plus probably some orc/goblin bits.
-
I love the giant with Howdah. Would seriously make a perfect Slave giant for my Ogre Kingdoms. Just stick a lookout-Gnonblar in the Howdah! :)

Very nice indeed - like the giant's helm in particular.
Giant Warsloth next? :D

Money's down for the Warsloth. My last miniature purchase for the foreseeable future. :D

Buy a Black Orc War Beast form Grendel and glue a rug onto it :D
Just kiddin'.....
Where does this Warsloth come from? Any particular ruleset?
//Edited for typos

Wher doas this Warsloth come from? Any particular ruleset?
mean, how dig are we talking here? Giant, as in giant spider size, like a big one with a single rider, or are we talking squiggoth size?

Loving those orks, I'd love some of those Dunggoths in my army! :)
-

Once I get a look at the Warsloth in the resin I'll make my specific demands for the Giant Warsloth ;D
-
A warsloth is fine, but I want a giant Kroot/Parrotman Warbeast. Make it so!
-
That looks like one of the old star wars toys for Episode 3 with a resculpted head. Wouldn't be too hard to do yourself?
-
Well, maybe that one is just a bit too big. I was thinking more the size of the Huntsman SPider Tank. No, maybe a bit smaller, like a land raider size. Or maybe a range of sizes, and some babies too?!
No, but really, what sizes?
-

Not one that I know of, feel free to point it out, I'd be happy to do it myself but haven't been able to work out the toy.
-
Very nice, they have alot of character...
-
Land Raider size would be cool. Babies would be adorable.
-

It was one of the gladiator pit beast things. I saw a guy convert squiggoths from them for his feral ork army YEAAAAAARS ago at a tourney at Colours.
-

Nope not those. I have two of the Nexu which will one day finish their conversion into Kroot/Parrotman beasts as they're Great Knarloc sized. The Reek is the one that usually gets turned into squiggoth types but is way smaller than the one in the Kroot pic and a very different shape.
-
Wekk, I have soem more sculpey on order to make a big dude from, but its going to be "gaming big" not "diorama big", so monster size and giant monster size I guess.
-
The Kroot beast above is about the same size as the Forge World Gargantuan Squiggoth I think. I don't suggest making a Giant War Sloth that big :)
As I said to you before a giant war sloth sounds like a Bantha type creature to me, so it'd be elephant sized. Not that I'm in the market for a giant war sloth :-I
-
While all this sounds like wonderful fun, and would certainly fill some gaps in the market, I think we've all overlooked something very important.
Dewbakuk, in that picture of the giant Kroot-beast, is that a Tau Ethereal with an afro and an orange pimp-suit? :o :-*
-
Yup, Disco ethreal!
I saw it a couple of years ago on CMON.
-
Both mounted mages are preparing themselves for the primer! 8)

Yep, it was an entry at German Games Day many years back 'tis cool incarnate 8)

Wait, what? Oh, right, the actual thread topic! :o
-
Even more on topic, some new figures! Trolls this time. These are a bit rough, they were a single day sculpt by me and a friend, so are priced at £2.50 for both!

-
I like the chap on the right!
-
The troll on the right is named Scargill.
What does Athur Scargill do when his nose goes on strike?
Picket.
-
with your prices it is becoming insane to not collect O&G for a particular game. agh well, we will see.
nice trolls and by the way, ONE DAY FRIGGIN SCULPTS? you know we are all jealous of your skills right?>
-
Hmmm... sold almost my O&G a couple of years ago... but now....
2.50 pounds for TWO resin trolls, you say.... :o
Had to go check in the store.... ;D
As soon as we are finished moving (we'll get the keys for our new house any day soon, now), expect an order from me - I need some of all these latest sculpts, something for NR, and I have promised my eldest daughter her own herd of Dungers.....
I shall recommend Ramshackle Games to everyone I can get to listen. I plan to do some presentations/demos with a friend of games I/we like at the nearest club this fall, and NR will be among them, if I can get some vehicles done in time (I'll probably use a couple of cheap toys, painted and weathered for the time being). I shall, of course, bring as many non-GW minis from all kinds of manufacturers for attendees to gawk at :D - and with your prices, I'd be surprised if not at least a couple of gamers will be tempted.
-

Well its all good. One service I do offer is big boxes of misscast parts. Its £5 per kg plus postage. This is usually alot of stuff and if you let me know what you need I can bulk out with that. Essentially, even the figures are usable, they just need a jolly good convertion to make them playable.
PM me or email through the web site for more details.
-
Dunggoths, dunggoths, dunggoths! :)
Wonderful trolls. Both are great!
-
Dunggoths, dunggoths, dunggoths! :)
So Dungoths and a Dungerdon?
-

Good idea, actually - could beef up some pound store purchases with all kinds of 'tridlins' that just need a bit of filler/putty to look OK. I could even make my daughter her own vehicles to paint/play with, she'd probably love that! :D
I'll come back to you about this - very soon, I think! I just need to get some stuff sorted out about the new place, and the rented house we are leaving (I'll start moving my gaming stuff as soon as I have the key for the house).
-
I definitely reccomend the box of miscasts for 5 pounds. I have got that twice and made one pickup and one truck from the parts. I also have more than enough to make 3-4 other vehicles with a bit of bodging. I've also got stacks of extra bits to make terrain, bases or whatever I want.
Those are great troll sculpts Curtis. Your Orcs and Goblins are really working out nicely. Do you have any little gobbo miniatures coming out as basic units to go along with the orc archers. That would be cool.
If I get more putty (my dog chewed my last batch) I will look at sculpting some orcy things as well as NR stuff.
-
So Dungoths and a Dungerdon?
Yes please. :)
I'd love some 6mm ones like the ones you have done.
-
I'm surprised as how quick you are to release something I want to buy JUST when I've recieved something from you.... Doh!
Oh well - having just recieved the orcs and the shaman enthroned I can say that these figs are very well done and nicely cast! Gonna give them some loving soon. lol
-
I finally got around to painting my warsloth. Thanks again to Curtis for throwing in the other mounted shaman! I'll get him done at some point this week.

It was a lot of fun to paint- I'll get better pictures tomorrow morning because the light right now is terrible.

Nice colours on the cloak.

A better picture:

Looks cool. The green mask really works. I have some more dunger variations in the works. Next up is dungers with half a rider, that is with just the legs. After that Im actually finishing up some full mounted resin figs. They are going to be for use as fantasy orcs and post apoc beast riders.
-
Thanks for the comments guys. :)
To Curtis: Yeah, I spent a good while working out which metallic colour to use for the mask, then I thought it might be cool if I painted it green, as if the greenskins wanted to make it look like a really big Orc(k), or like a manifestation of one of their gods.
-

;D
A few more pack Dungers would be much appreciated. This line of minis is going to make me take up O&G for SBH... and possibly beyond.... (as well as using some of them for NR).
