Well it's not really a town as it's only one building, but it's the start of a big project. I've been inspired by so many of you here on LAF with your towns and thought it was about time I picked up my own stalled Old West project from last year. Playing loads of Red Dead Redemption and watching Deadwood have also helped spur me on.
So here are pics of the first building in my as yet unnamed town and the first painted figure of my Lawmen posse; a Pinkerton agent. Not happy with the sign so that will probably change to a nice printed one when I get round to it.

Great start. One building right now......20 in a few months time! Very addictive.

Looks great. :)

Gutbukkit,
That's a tidy building - looking forward to seeing your next ones.
I'm also liking the Pinkerton - your Lawman posse is off to a good start - I assume you're using Legends of the Old West ?

Lovely store,
Sad to hear that you don't like your sign. Our club seems to have many, many (many) Wild West buildings. However, this was not enough to represent all of the towns on our strategic map. Col.Winky & Major Disappointment came up with the idea of mounting steel washers, or something steel, on the buildings. Then mounting various signs on sheet magnet so that different towns could have different signs on different buildings during different games.
This splendid idea was, however, never quite completely implemented.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Hopefully this will be the case. I loved making this building and it was very easy. There will be some larger buildings that will be more difficult to make such as the saloon, jailhouse, bank and hotel which I plan giving interiors to add some added flavour to the games. These I can see stalling the project a bit...I'll leave the saloon till last I reckon.
I assume you're using Legends of the Old West ?
I will indeed be using Legends of the Old West, mainly cos I'm already very familiar with the LotR style of play and the Mordheim-esque campaign system. I do have the Rules with No Name also which I definitely want to give a try as they look very interesting and completely different to anything I have played before.

I like the sound of this idea and would certainly give more options to each building; also making each town different appeals to me and this would save me having to make too many buildings. May borrow that one if that's OK :D

Welcome to the LAF, Gutbukkit. Cool start to your western town. I look forward to seeing more pic's.

Nice building, Gutbukkit, and the Pinkerton agent is excellent - the suit is very nicely done.
Building an Old West town can become an addiction, you know. First it's small general stores, and land offices, but before you know it you'll be building five-sided two-storey saloons with full interiors, and sprawling railroad depots with dusty gunmen drifting through! Actually, the interiors are what really multiply the build time, but they're well worth it. Looking forward to more!

Betting the next building for the town will be the ever popular saloon!
-
I'd like to build the saloon next but it's gonna be a big project with 2 floors and an interior. I think I will go for a sheriff's office/jail house inspired by the Armadillo jail in Red Dead Redemption (i.e run down), complete with cells and removable roof. Small enough for me to complete relatively quickly but with the bonus of making an interior. I'll be sure to post the results here when it's complete.

Here's my jail I built some time back, complete with drilled and mounted jail cell bars;

Love your Pinkerton!
and great store! Don't worry 'bout the sign, that's how they really did it: put something up to get business going then change it to a fancy-dancy sign later!
Nice jail Alfrik, but what the hell is that thing in the upper left corner of the page? :o

A bit of threadomancy. It's been a long while since I've done anything for my wild west project (apart from buying lots of lead for the project). So i thought I'd get back on it. After being inspired by Braxandur's use of a GW spray can lid to build a water tower around in this thread http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=25569.0 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=25569.0) , I decided to have a go at making my own, here is the result:

:-* Excellent water tower but the Pinkerton's looking a bit lonely 8)
-
lol Haha, thanks. He certainly is looking lonely, something I hope to remedy soon before I post any more photos. If I don't get painting some of the hundreds of old west figures I have, I'll soon have a town but no inhabitants.

Nice looking building...it is very addictive, good start

A bit of threadomancy on my Wild West project thread. Thought I'd post some pics of some of some of the additions I painted last year before they get boxed up for moving house. No new buildings yet, but lot's of mexicans, bushwackers and a one-eyed fat man. The Lone Pinkerton is alone no more, he now has some friends to play with (and shoot at!).

See, you build one building and
then another, soon they start breeding like rabbits. lol
Like what you have done so far.
-
Very nice. I must make one of those for my town at some point. So many projects, so little time....

Bugsda what have you done!!! Now he's looking well OUTNUMBERED!!!

lol ;D What can I say? I liked painting Banditos more than I liked painting the lawmen (though I did enjoy the challenge of painting not-Rooster Cogburn accurate to the film). The Mexican bandits will be my main posse when we play Legends of the Old West. My opponent will have his own posse. I do plan on having my own lawman posse as well.
Thanks for the kind words gents. More to come as soon as I settle in to new place hopefully.

Nice start to the town! Looking forward to watching it grow.
