Yep, have to agree there lovely work on the tats and the warpaint. ;D
-
for painting, I have long hesitated before painting, it must be about a year or two that I have at the bottom of the window. not easy to address as subject. I know roughly how are the war paint and tattoos, but the return on a 28mm figure, is another story

So lovely that I enlarged the image for a closer look. The 'blue ink' tats are especially effective. 8)

Very well painted indeed. I would like to paint some myself but the thought of painting tattoos and warpaint always put me off… someday maybe…
-
how about the warlord games warpaint decals?
-
lovely work Duhamel,
what you used for the tatoos?
I think to try with ink pen.
-
Really nice! The tattoos and warpaint are especially nice.

just a question:
how are the beautiful, yet strikingly colored leggings to be interpreted?
trade cloth? good leather dye?
just curious, cause I've only seen dull leather colours until now
-
Dyed leather (usually black IIRC) and trade cloth were both employed.
-
ahh thx
always keen to learn something new

I know
but the colours are very strong so I was just curious
I don't know much about woodland indians but I was always a bit in love with the theme

Tim Greene wrote a helpful three-part article on the colors of clothing and paint prevalent among different tribes that Eric Roof hosts on his Conquest Miniatures site. http://www.conquestminiatures.com/hobbyarticles.htm (http://www.conquestminiatures.com/hobbyarticles.htm)
Honestly as time went by a lot of these distinctions were blurred, but we gamers like our painting guides! ;)

You'll also find painting guides for Mohawk and Huron among our guides on the Galloping Major site:
