Hi folks.
I have droooled over all your wonderful scenery for so long, that I think is time for me to post some of the scenery I've been building for my Pulp games.
Hope you like this, but bear in mind that most of the time I work with a tight budget, and also remember there are some people far more talented than me, so please bear with me.
Some jungle tiles. I made about a dozen of these to populate the table, but just show some here so you get the idea.

I know hexes seem strange at first glance, but I think they are very practical and you can arrange them close together to make larger jungle areas.
Ok. and here are some rocks I made like 10+ years ago:

Now, a very old piece of scenery (I made it more than 8 years ago), that has seen lots of battles. This is one of my gaming group favorites for its versatility.
Dino bones:

And some moais I sculpted from scratch recently:
More to come... :P
-
Great!
You should be casting up some of those sculpts, and adding to the range for your own little hobby company ;)
The skull rocks and the moais are really nice.
The layered rocks are typical 80's style GW stuff - I made some myself at one point - think they ended up in a games club.
-
Your scenery looks fine. I've been making some scenery myself and when I start to think about repaint, or adding more layers of highlights, I remind myself most people look at it from arms length, it's the figs they look at up close.
Cheers,
-
However, the layered rocks still look nice if they stick out of some trees or shrubbery. I like your terrain. If there is one thing I would do differently it's the green of the jungle bases. I'd go for a more brownish earth color with patches of vegetation. But that's just personal taste. And I can understand why your dinosaur is a favourite: it's really coool, something I've always wanted to do but never got around to doing.
-
The dino bones scenery piece is very nice
-
To all of you, who has taken your time to see my stuff and leave some comments, thanks you very much.
Your feedback is gratly appreciated.

He,he, that's right, you got me
They were made LOTS of years ago for WHFB 4th! (Oh. my, how time flyes!), inspired in WD and some GW rule and army books.
They look so simple now, compared with some of my recent stuff, but still are practical to place on the table, and I wanted to share them with you. By the way, I made like 6 different models, but just a couple seem right to photograph, so you get the idea.
Maybe in a near future I will post a "group pic" so you can see all them together.
Meanwhile, here is a little hill I made as an experiment.
I think it doesn't turn half bad, although I realize it's quite small, but as I said, it was an experiment:

And a litlle "stone circle" I made for some arcane rites.
I guess I must add some debris and folliage, as this looks so "new", but anyhow, here it is:

It's curious you say that, as these I sculpted for myself with green stuff (well, some sort of "almost white" stuff actually), and I think they ended up pretty well, so I'm tempted to cast them in resin and made me a few copies.
Any of you are interested?

Well, that's it for now.
Some more things to come yet... :P
Best wishes.

Those idols are nice. I could see a market for them if they were priced right.
-
I was going to say that your terrain was nothing to sneeze at, and then I actually sneezed.... :?
Anyways, great looking pieces. I really like the dino bones, and Moais head and the 2 idols. If they are reasonably priced, I would be very interested in getting some of the idols. Keep me posted.
Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your ideas.
Regards,
Hitman

I am loving your sculpts. You would sell at least the one set to me if you cast them.

-
Sir, you MUST keep sculpting! There's talent in there, for sure. Although idols and primitive statues may not be the hardest things to sculpt, especially the idols show that you have more than a hang of it!
I second the opinions that say you'd find a market. They're cool!
-
I agree, those idols are the dogs dangly bits and if you get a chance to cast them up, go for it.
I also like the dino bones and the stone circle and... loads of good stuff.
But I must say that last hill made me think of a cake at first sight. Probably a combination of steep sides and a too round shape. But the principles and techniques that were used are sound.

Thanks you all for your kind words and interest.
I may try to make the silicone moulds and resin castings of the tiki idols this weekend.
Let me see how that turns out, and then we'll talk about them.
But remember that I'm in Mexico, so post charges may be a little high for some of you over the pond.
Anyhow, this thread is about pieces of scenery, so let me show you some other of my pieces... ;)
A ruined Ganesha temple.
The idol is a resin piece I bought at an esoteric shop, but I immediately saw the possibilities.
All walls and the floor are made with high density stirofoam 0.5mm thick.
And I plan to add 2 or 3 more small "rubble" pieces to complete the set, but so far, I'm very happy about how this one turned out.
Hope you like it.

Some other stuff still on my desk... :P
Best wishes.

Cool stuff. I really like the two idols 8)

I wonder what the postage is like to Australia from Mexico :?

Very good ruin! Also nice to se some non-grey walls - shall have to remember to do some. I guess terracotta with white, bone, or flesh mixed in should do the trick?

Gray stone for everything seems to be the quick and easiest way to go.
Anyhow, I wanted to try something different here.
The colors I used were:
"Rusty red" as a a basecoat.
"Terracota" for the first HEAVY drybrush, and
"Cadmium" for the final drybrush.
I must say that for scenery pieces I use "cheap, school acrilic paints" and not my expensive GW or Vallejo "modeller's paint", so just go to your local big stationer's or handcraft store and get some chap acrilic paints there.
I'n glad you're liking my stuff.
Still some more to come, but need to upload the pics, and take some new ones, so until next time pals.
Best wishes.

Soooo much beautiful work! Love those new ruins! :-*
Thanks for sharing.

Hi guys, time for a new building.
Egypt Pyramid.

Totally scratch built with cardboard and 5mm styrofoam.
Now, you may be wondering why there appears to be a "seam" in every edge of the pyramid.
Well, I live in an apartment, and only have a limited storage space for miniature scenery (and miniatures in general), and all those jungles, rocks and hills can't be folded or taken appart, but buildings can!
So I desing most of my buildings to fold, so I can store them in a drawer.
Now, I'm working in a set of "folding" middle east buildings.
I'll show you them ASAP.
Best wishes.
-
That is a great pyramid temple, and bonus points for the folding-flat part of the design!
Looking forward to the rest of the fold-flat buildings.
-
Love the idols. Have you decided if you are going to cast them?
-
Another great piece of terrain! Very well done!
Dave
-
Amazing work! I hope to see more awesome terrain to come! :D
-
Nice stuff indeed. Those idols are perfect for something I have cooking "pulp-wise" at the moment. Any chance we're able to get a few?
-Todd
-
Very clever design - and a great build
-
WONDERFUL STUFF! It's nice to see you gracing YET ANOTHER Forum with your FINE WORK & charming presence. As always VERY WELL DONE! :-*
-
Very nice collection.

Seconded.

Thanks a lot pals.
It's good to see you like my stuff.
Here's the first of the promised "folding-middle-east-buildings":

Hope you like it.
Right now, I'm working on several crates, barrels, etc. to populate the tabletop and provide cover for the characters.
I'll show them as soon as they're finished and I take some more pics.
Best wishes.

Some new angles of the folding building:

And the TIKI IDOLS moulds are ready, and I have produced and painted a few.
Here you can see some of them:
In raw resin, before painting:
And, as I can make lots of them, and just for fun, I filed down the faces of a pair, and sculpted new faces. I think they turned out very good:
What do you think?
Next, some boxes, barrels and luggage, I sculpted, made moulds and casted in resin, so the miniatures can have good hiding spots over the battlefield.
Best wishes.

Very nice idols 8)

Some freestanding stuff, so characters may have cover.
Most of this I sculpted myself.
Some sacks:

Jars and vases:
And some stacked boxes, barrels, etc.

And some luggage, for our traveling heros:
The extreme right pieces are raw resin. The others are painted examples.
Hope you like them.
Best wishes.
-
Great stuff!
Those will be great for scenery and game objective markers.
-
Get a part-time business up and start selling! :)
The idols are ace, and the luggage is something I haven't really seen elsewhere. (Now, where can I get and old bus for that trip through the Andes......?)
-
I would agree. Start selling this stuff, you would do well. Your stuff is very unique and very nice. Keep up the great work.
-
And I SO have to paint those 3 adventurers ;D
What a cool party!
-
ok that is very cool stuff !!!
have you figure out what the shipping cost to europe are ?
the idols are nice and the handbacks also ;D
grimm
-
You have a clear talent for sculpting, sir! :-* From the responses on here alone I'm sure there's a market for castings out there.
-
Did any thing ever come from all of this?
I know I still want some of the items show cased.
-
Love these. The luggage is a great addition - and the idols are lovely.
-
Hi everybody.
Thanks to you all who have interest in my pieces.
I know I was ready to sell some of this scenery to several of you, but when I was ready to start producing them for the people who PM'd their interest, the first days of september, my father got very sick, and I pretty much dropped everything to be with him.
He lived near 300 km from my usual place, and I left work, friends, gaming group, etc. and moved with him and mom.
To make a long tale short, after 5 months of struggle, dad finally passed away mid january at age 79, but I stayed a little longer with mom.
When I came back home, it took a while to restart "real life" affairs, not to mention all the work it has been to settle all dad's states (not finished yet), and althoug I can't be permanently with mom, I try to visit her as much as I can.
Precisely on april 13 is her birthday, so I'll go there for a few days to be with her.
Anyhow, Next week I'll be back at my usual home, and as I have slowly restarted the gaming group, other wargaming activities are soon to be restarted too.
So please, if you have interest in some of these pieces, send a PM, and I'll try to fulfill what you need ASAP.
Thanks again and best wishes.
-
My condolences on your father. I can certainly understand how producing models pales in importance to family. Take care!
-
very cool :)
-
Everything is really good. I especially like the texture on the sacks. Keep it up. :D
