They are a mixture of Dixon Miniatures, Brigade Games, and Artizan Design:

More pictures on my blog.

Thats a nice little mix you got going on there :)
-
very nice
-
Well painted and very diverse! Thanks for sharing. :)
-
Nice. Clean, bright yet natural looking painting style.
-
Nice painting, I see Empress figures in there too.
-
Thanks everyone!
Phil: You are correct, they miniatures in the red tunics are Empress Miniatures. I forgot about them in the first post.
-
just excellent!
when can we see pictures of Your collection in action?
or at least in a showcase set-up?
-
Thanks former user, but these were done for a commission. I still have this batch of figures because I'm working on some more Artizan figures, a Dixon truck, and a Lancia. When they are completed they'll go to England.

What he said. ;)
-
They look great! I really like them all 8)

What are the Carlists supposed to be? I'm not really familiar with the ins and outs of the VBCW back story. Trouble with Carlists, if you aren't going to use them as such, is that they don't look like anything else. However you paint them they are always going to look like Carlists.
-
Edwardists?

IIRC they are from an island south of the mainland that has a large influx of Spanish immigrants and are the Parish of St. Martin. That's all I can remember, these are for a commission so I just painted them how I was asked.

I am familiar and I don't know either... lol
The Carlist figures pass muster as Basques in SCW though (personally I'd remove the tassel off the beret though).
-
Yeah I have a few off them siting around my self and when I finally get around to paniting them. they will be lossing the tassels
-
I've painted this Dixon Miniatures Prohibition Era truck for some VBCW:

Who makes the Truck?
-
Dixon Miniatures
-
Very nice!
-
That's a really nicely painted little truck... and figures too 8)

The Carlist's are painted to represent the Parish of St Martin, on the island of Jersey (in the Channel Islands) and will be part of the Anglican League. I wanted some figures to stand out a bit, and use a splash of colour for the religious over-tures. It also helps that the Empress range has an excellent standard bearer in the Carlist range with a crucifix. I guess the great thing about a ficitonal war (with a historical basing) is that it gives you some licence to push the boundaries a bit.
Sam, the truck is just amazing and I cant wait to see it in action trying to support the militia on the island of Jersey.
-
Thanks for the clarification Paul! When I had to open a new email account I wasn't able to save the email that you sent to me with the background info.
-
A few people have used the carlists as anglicans. In the fluff book it says the anglicans like to go a bit OTT on their uniforms. lol
I love that dixon truck- I might have to get one of those- You never know when your army is going to need a truck load of beer! :P
Who makes those tough looking ladies in the front row? I thought I knew all the VBCW type minis, but I don't recognise them. :-*
-
They are Brigade Games Mobster Molls and Dixon Miniatures French Partisans. I've got them pictured together by manufacturer in my blog if you are looking for more specifics.
-
Thanks. I found the models on the brigade website- I don't think any of the UK sellers carry that range, whcih is why I have never looked at them before. A lot of the Dixon partizans are carrying sten guns, whcih is not right for the '38 period, as far as I know.

Some more Artizan miniatures:

The Musketeer Lancia. It only came with one head light for some reason:

Wonderful stuff! :-* :-*I'm a big fan of Artizan myself. :)

Very very nice, some very nice models in that collection, they have a lot of character.
Congrats on your brush work
Steve
-
Alll these minis look great together. Excellent paintjobs!
-
Good tonal range, and very crisp sculpts
-
Thanks! I'm waiting on some casting to arrive from England and I'll begin work on some BUF figures.
-
Some BUF reinforcements have landed:
BUF PAK 36 (from Empress Miniatures)

BUF Vickers HMG (from Musketeer Miniatures)

BUF Command (from Empress Miniatures and Musketeer Miniatures)

Awesome work.
-
Bloody lovely! :-*
-
Very nice work! :)
-
This is LPL round-winner quality. I really want those Bofors guns and that command group from Empress. The do so look the business.
-
Absolutely superb, Killshot! The black on the BUF is really well done. What paints did you use (for both the uniforms and the belts)?
Really really good.
-
Thanks everyone!
Adam: for the clothes I used Vallejo dark gray and for extreme highlights dark gray mixed with neutral gray. The belts are black mixed with shadow gray and then just shadow gray (boots and shoes too).
-
Thanks very much, that's very helpful. After watching 'The King's Speech' the other day, I'm really getting the urge to start VBCW. I've got so many other things on the go at once though, but most of the VBCw game reports I've seen have a couple dozen or so men a side, so it might well make a nice break from what I'll be mostly painting over the next few months. If I do decide to take the plunge, then you're partly responsible with these inspiring photos, Killshot.
-
They are, as Hammers says, quite excellent. Personally I might have done a little less white and perhaps the puttees in khaki. Your masterful shading of the uniforms and kit means that it is far less necessary to bring a colour contrast into the figures to make them stand out... but that is just my taste, rather than any criticism of the quality of the painting. Well done!
:-*

I finished these up a while ago, but just got the digital camera back. :)
First are some Militia figures, not sure of the manufacturer of these:
More Parish of St. Martin reinforcements (Carlist figures from Empress Miniatures). I know not everyone is a fan of using these Spanish Civil War figures for the British Civil War, but these represent Spanish Immigrants from the Island of Jersey and support the Anglican League:
I've included a little more analysis on my blog, but this is the gist of it here. You are more than welcome to follow my blog, I plan on getting it rolling better with more WIP shots in the near future and I'll continue to post finished products on the forum.

Beuatifully painted figures - which figure manufacturer(s) are responsible for the command group?

Thanks! :) They're also from Empress Miniatures, the Republican Command Group: http://www.empressminiatures.com/userimages/procart23.htm

Really great work 8)
-
Thanks Calimero. I have some Gripping Beast WWI Brits that I'm working on right now and will be another large addition to the customer's BUF forces.
-
As promised, here are the GB WWI figures as BUF soldiers:

Nice work. One small query - shouldn't the Vickers MGs be loaded from the other side? That's the way round I've done the model from various period photos.

Damn it. :-[ I looked at pictures before assembling the model and still did it backwards.

Just call them imported Browning M1917's and you're golden. :)

You are wise beyond your years!
-
That's the great thing about playing non-historical historicals: if you can justify it, it's correct! ;)
-
It's a really nice VBCW army. BTW, I really like how you painted the Black uniforms. Great work once again 8)

Thanks! I always worry I over-do the grey on the uniforms, but when I look at real black clothing it always has lots of grey (depending on material that is).

I finished up a couple of vehicles today:

Thank you! :) That's correct, they are from BEF. The top vehicle is the kfz. 13 Adler Armoured car and the bottom vehicle is British Morris CS9 LAC.
lovely stuff!
cheers
Matt
Thanks Matt! :)
-
Lovely work as usual KS - makes me wish I hadn't put my BUF up for sale.....(of course once I sell them, I know i'll end up painting more...... ;D ).
The Morris is a great little kit as well.

Thought so I've a couple of the latter... one for the regulars;

and one for the BUF,
(http://6milphil.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/dscf3377.jpg)
but by then I'd got a bit fed up with vehicles all in black

Thanks! I know how that goes, I had a GW Praetorian Imperial Guard army that I sold and wish I never did!
6milPhil - Painting those two vehicles black was too much of a problem. Went pretty quick. I spent most of the time dirtying them up
