I am a big fan of the „Disposable Heroes“- rules and also of 1/72 miniatures. As a result, I have built some gaming boards for this topic. My latest one is a Pegasus Bridge scenario which will be played at the next TST (small German convention / Bad Oldesloe). Here are some “action”(night)-shots and some general pictures of the board and my miniatures:

Yes indeed, saw all this on sweetwater and it's really fantastic stuff!!:-* :-*Very motivational! :)

Fantastic! I never knew 1/72nd plastics could look so good!
-
Thank you :D
I also have a St. Mere Eglise board, which I have shown on the Kauzenburg (another small German wargaming convention). Here are some pictures:

Wow... fantastic stuff!
Super terrain and minis!
-
:-* That's a really nice collection 8)
-
Fantastic! Great mini's and terrain.
-
I know that I sound like a broken record, but your shots are really atmospheric! :)
And as mentioned earlier, I never thought that 1/72 plastics could look so good...
-
I'll say the same as everyone else, thanks for sharing! :-*
-
Again, thanks for sharing those! What company makes your miniatures? Whomever it is, your paint jobs really make them come alive!
-
Great stuff :-* :-* :-*
Is the bridge scratch built?
I recognise the german infantry but not the US para's, same question as above, who make them and are they plastic.
The painting is amazing, great detail on the uniforms.
-
Thanks for your compliments! The miniatures are all plastic. The Germans are Revell and Preiser and the US Paras Imex, Revell and Esci.
By the way…we played this St. Mere Eglise thing in a small campaign of three games (1. Landing of paratroopers / 2. La Fiere Bridge / 3. St. Mere Eglise). Here are some pictures of the first scenario:

Agreed.
Very nice use of the camera.
Having great minis and terrain helps an awefull lot though... ;)
-
WOW!! very nice figures and scenery! :-* :-*
-
Fantastic! Those are great terrain boards and REALLY nicely painted figures -- like others have said, I didn't know plastics could look so good! How do you keep the paint from flaking off? My clumsy forays into plastics ended in my paint jobs flaking off during several play sessions despite several attempts to fix the paint onto the plastic. ;D
-
Thanks again! :)
I never had any problem with the paint flaking off my plastic miniatures. First step is to wash the miniatures with water and some drops of detergent. After they have dried I spray-paint the miniatures with acrylic primer. For painting the miniatures I use acrylic paint. That’s it!
…and some pictures of different older games:

Did you also spray them with a matte sealant? The paint jobs are great, a little on the dark side -- did you dip them or apply a dark wash to bring out the details, or is that simply your painting style?
-
@SBMiniaturesGuy: No, I don’t use any kind of sealing, but you are right with the dark wash. I usually take the brown GW-wash and additionally make some black-lining with ink.
But there are not only plastic miniatures in my armies. I really love the AB figures. They are only in 1/76 scale but fit perfect to my 1/72 plastics. Here are some pictures of my US boys:

You have an absolutely outstandingly painted army :)
I'm curious about how you achieve the crisp skin colour as well.
-
Don't quite know what to say. Beautiful figures and great photography. I'm loving it. Absolutely cracking.
Björn mentioned something about an upcoming Sudan game. I'd love to see some more pics of your Sudan stuff if and when you have any.
-
Outstanding work! Your use of lighting makes for great effects, too.
-
Absolutely stunning, amazing mini's and terrain. Very well done!
-
Drop-dead gorgeous!!! :o
-
Wow, amazing!
-
outstanding work, would love to know where you got the walling from around the church.

Really is a wonderful army, could you tell me who made these 1/72's? Are they plastic or metal?
Cheers
As always
Steve

The church-wall is from the German company Busch. The product number and name are: 6014 - Steinmauer mit Tor HO. And there are a lot of other useful things in there catalogue! http://www.busch-model.com/default.htm
The last batch of miniatures is made by AB Figures: http://www.abfigures.co.uk/
I’m currently working, together with Driscoles, on a Stalingrad game board. Driscoles is responsible for the miniatures, vehicles and painting of the buildings. My part was creating the game board…and here it is:

That game board, like all of your other stuff, looks incredible! Any interest in sharing some of the techniques?
-
Building this kind of board is really easy. Here is a small report in pictures
1. We already have some buildings, so we try to find out the best position for them.
2. We are cutting some pieces of foam board (5mm) and glue them on the game board.
3. Now we are adding some details, like bomb craters (they are than carved in the surface).
4. In the next step I glue different kind of sand and gravel on top of the board (no picture).
5. Painting the whole thing…
The End :)

Great looking models and scenery. Please keep us posted on your town progress.

As I promised, here the first Stalingrad pictures with miniatures and buildings. The miniatures and buildings are all painted by Driscoles (good work Björn!!!) and the factory by Vasa (very, very nice!!!). Next weekend, we will play the first games…stay tuned!

What else is there to say? Superb job, particularly on those flexible figures most of us probably started out with, many moons ago.
Just noticed that the Stalingrad tram shown in the pics is now available as a kit, too.

Brilliant stuff!! :o :-*
We are going to start our WW2 project now, the Orne campaign and I wish we could make half as good as yours...
Thank you for posting the pictures.

Those look stunning Frank, your work is really jaw dropping. Any chance you're bringing them to Horizont in Esbjerg this year? (Please say yes!)

Hi Duncan,
I’m afraid, there isn’t enough room left in the car. I already have to bring along my two Star Wars games :?
…but if there is some extra space, I will squeeze them in the car. ;)

Sounds good, can't complain at your star wars games either!

Damn you Frank! Our local top shop has 50% off on most of their model kits, now I would've been able to resist if I hadn't had pictures of your lovely stuff running through my brain, so I'm now the proud owner of some Italieri buildings, German and British infantry and a few armoured vehicles to match. Now to assemble them, which after not having touch a plastic kit since I was a teenage is bringing up alot of nostalga!

Nuff said really!

WOW! Others have said it but it bears repeating: AMAZING boards!!!
