Just got back from Gen Con 2010 and while I was there found a really fun game called ZynVaded!™.
I have a writeup on my website.

Looks nice :)
Any idea if it is available somewhere?
-
Fun! I like it!
-
Yes. You can purchase it directly from John email him at admin@wehaveissuespub.com. The rule set and figures are $30. I am planning on painting my set up this weekend. :D
-
Thanks ;)
Will contact him.

I like the idea, hows it play?
-
You basically have 3 figures to a side. Each side comes with a heavy, a leader and a scout. The scout can be replaced with an assassin. Each figure has various stats and hit points. The Heavy has the most and I think the scout has the least.
To kill a figure you reduce its hit points to zero. They have various scenarios that look quite fun.
The figures are 1 to 1 scale. Meaning they are the actual size. They could easily be used in 28mm if you prefer that scale. I don't think it will effect the rules in any way.
Terrain and stuff can be anything from coffee mugs to computer boards.
-
I read the basic idea is that its a war between aliens that are actually 28mm high, invading earth, fighting on tables etz, ours planets natural battlefields for small aliens.
-
So it's an SF version of Fairy Meat, then?
The minis do look useful for 28mm aliens.
-
I wouldn't say it is a SF version of Fairy Meat, since they don't go around eating each other. :D At least not yet.
John, one of the owners said they had 2 more alien races in the works.
-
any chance of a close up of the minis ?

I might be mistaken but it looks like your miniatures incorporate components that originate from GW miniatures, I spot a GW sniper rifle barrel and a Kroot rifle barrel end, the grenades look like it but could be different and the same goes for the ammo boxes.
All I can say is tread carefully. :-X
-
Hmmm... now that you mention it...
-
Looks like a fun game to play during lunch time. Like the box it's in too :D
I do have the same recognition issues that were mentioned above though; I hope they'll be able to get away with that. Then again; the parts used are generic enough and I doubt even GW has the legal department to support them claiming IP over particular gun barrel, magazine, drum, grenade and searchlight shapes... Besides; the drum mags with the Kroot barrels on the Leaders can be explained away as an alien PPSh-41-ish lol sort of gun, etc...
I certainly like the look of the G.N.A.T. Will that be the third faction (since it's in another colour)?
-
IP isn't the issue, copyright is. Taking part of a miniature and using it as part of your own master that you then cast is copyright infringement.
Copyright infringement is stealing and this forum and its owners do not endorse it in any way.
-
That this has been done has put me off buying the game. I didn't really notice until it was pointed out to me but the admission from the creator that they "borrowed" some stuff just to get it out to market (which sounds like get more sales at GenCon) just makes me feel uneasy. I don't think I will partake in something I at first thought was a superb and fun idea if it means I'm endorsing what amounts to theft.

No more on this until the miniatures are original.
