Title: An affordable source of cork tile?

Hello all!

While traveling to the far land of my birthplace (the prairies near the badlands in which one will not need worry about a run-away pet for a week until it is beyond visual range) I went to the local Michael's for some terrain-making goodness. And most of it was quite expensive, I must say. Plenty of foamcore and balsa wood I had bought but shocked was I at the prices of cork board especially. Plus that's almost a five hour drive one way so expensive for petro too.

So anyone know a good source I could take advantage of? I have plenty of that thick cork tile you can get from bulletin boards, but I'm looking for something I could use to make 28mm buildings and other interesting surfaces from.

In the UK I use DIY stores as a source for cork flooring tiles which are quite handy for building, quite cheap too.

Cork needs to be imported a long way to reach the colonies so it gets expensive. Some US folk have found it in builders' merchants for a reasonable sum but I think the easiest solution is to emigrate to Europe.

Maybe try http://www.corkfloorsales.com Located in BC with pickup locations in across the country. Maybe they have what you're looking for. Check Home Hardware in flooring section, sometimes they sell rolled cork by the foot (3 or 4 ft wide IIRC) at about $5.

Try CVS Pharmacies,sometimes at Office Depot's or similar, Lowe's or Home Depot in their insulation sections.  They all sell it in 1 foot squares, 4 to a pack.

But with such a price to pay to move across the pond I might as well just buy more cork than I'd ever need. lol
