Title: Desert Troopers
Post by: whiffwaff on 27 August 2010, 01:49:27 PM
Hi All,

Some pictures of a model to share.

28 mm to the eye (ish)

Equipped with a Tri-sight gas mask and a long barrelled pulse rifle

There are another 9 on the way and also a mount with rider which should be finished tomorrow.

Yet again some stunning work there! Where are the whitemetal bits from?

I always wonder why someone in the desert would wear a gas mask? I can understand covering your nose and mouth, and wearing goggles, but a gas mask seems like overkill. Of course that's just my opinion. It's a spiffy looking model though.

Some would even say the artic is the ultimate desert!

Really nice, my only very slight query is shouldn't the back pack be just a bit higher on the back  ???
But very nice otherwise

I think it's great and the backpack looks spot on. The pack itself rests on the hips which is exactly where the bag should be. Underneath the bag is the sleeping bag, but that shouldn't go on top of the hips as it doesn't offer support in carrying.
Those years working in an outdoor store sometimes pay off :P

There's going to be a mount?!  Please tell me it's something other than a horse (not that I have anything against horses).

The mount isn't a horse....

These have a new owner (just need to finish them now!).

Will be going to mould makers next week.

VERY NICE INDEED!

ARE y'all making them for your own use or are y'all aking them for  a company?

ALSO, i think the backpack is in the correct place for comfort; LORD knows i have worn a ruck with metal frame, and a  buttpack enough to know  how important a bit of comfort is when y'all are making like a walking, talking, living, breathing weapon,  aide station, water, food,  ammo and equipment  supply point!

Wow, I thought it was a just a stereotype, but obviously people actually say y'all in reference to one individual.

I believe he said the miniatures will be produced by Brigade Games and I look forward to it!

As others have said, these could make nice Tallarn for 40k.
Desert doesn't have to be Terran Desert, the atmosphere could be different or it could be a Rad-Zone...

Probably for the best.  I've got no cash with which to scratch this particular itch.

I blew it all on some of whiff waffs other work, and no, not the arctic troopers  :D

HAHA...yep thats right...at least in Texas if you are talking to a group of people you would refer to them as "all ya'lls"  ...just typing that makes my 7th grade English teacher roll over in her grave!

These are smashing figures BTW I would really like to see the other sculpts!

Cheers....all ya'lls... :)

I went to Grad school at Texas A&M...where it was hot and humid and after 3 years quickly fled to Vermont where its cold...and dry... :)  I need to find a happy middle ground!

Eever read Rogue Trooper ?
2 nations fight over a resourceful planet they nuked the hell out.
desert terrain + poisonous atmosphere

Not my type of mini, but nevertheless a very nice sculpt  :)

Yeah I once stayed on target but that gun range has gone now... it's all houses. ;D

Lovely work from the OP... surely there's some more photos now.

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but I thought several people would be interested to know this.

I got impatient and contacted Brigade Games.  They said: "... Remind me next week when we return from Historicon and I will stick them in the store."

Sounds like they are ready, just not listed yet.   :-*

Wow, I thought it was a just a stereotype, but obviously people actually say y'all in reference to one individual.

Just to clarify:

y'all = singular
all y'all = plural - though in some regions, "y'alls" is used as the plural form)

As I once told Dawgie, I don't know which is more disturbing: the fact that some of my fellow Staters talk like that or the fact that I actually understand it.  ???

As requested, I sent a reminder 2 days ago.  I gave them a bit of extra time to recover from the con.  No response yet, but I'm still failry confident we'll see these up soon.
