Hello, good and gentle folks of the LAF,

The 2010 FU!UK competition is officially launched and will run until November 1st. Yes, I know what it says on the actual contest page, but that is a (repeated) typo and I will change it as soon as I can.  :'(

The theme is Cthluedo, to tie in with a certain game being organised by a certain frother for a certain Salute show (ok, so it's the Cthluedo game by Dags for next Salute). So if it fits with either cluedo or the cthulhu mythos, you can sculpt it. They can be player characters, lurkers, elder gods, corpses, sacrificial altars, ... Let your imagination go wild.

Check it out here:

You've got 8 weeks if my calculations are correct, so don't waste time. Start sculpting rightaway! Now! Now!

WK

I really love how the 'colonel's" trophy has a sizeable hole in the forehead, but the back of it is all blown out !   Gotta love a 4-guage elephant gun firing a DumDum slug.

That Wilbur Whatlely sculpt is the one I have been awaiting all my life !

Some will be available for a limited period (winners and runners up) through the frothers shop, after that I can imagine some being sold by the sculptors to interested companies.

Some absolutely ingenious and beautiful sculpts. In terms of pure perfection of sculpting technique, anatomy, animation and so on, Timothy Wopping and the Untitled Creeper will take some beating. But the Grandfather Clock is superbly macabre. Love it. Thanks for sharing WK  :)

By the way, can the public vote or do you have to be a member of Frothers? I've always resisted joining Frothers on account of the large number of Tourette's sufferers and borderline sociopaths. But I might have to do it this time...  :D

Each year there is a panel of judges to take care of the voting.
We have considered adding a members' vote, but never implemented that because we've seen on some other sites how these things can sometimes yield results that are clearly indicated by people secretly solliciting votes.

Frothers sculpting competition is almost always a treat. Some very talented sculptors assemble for it.

Well, it's been a difficult choice to make for the judges with so many high level entries and a lot fo really close calls, but they've come to the following results. More detailed comments about all the sculpts will follow in a few days, along with the official galleries.

And the winners are:

Evil Lurkers
1. Tentacled Cultist (by HiveTrygon)
2. The Grandfather (by Relic)
3. Untitled Creeper (the Badsmile)

Closely followed by Wilbur Whateley (by Mabus) and the Tentacultist (by Sylvain)

Hapless Mortals
1. The Honourable Timothy Whopping (by Andrew Rae)
2. Lady Pussyhat (by Esben)
3. Mrs. Migraine (by Klute) and Colonel Marbles, Eldrich Horror Hunter (by Mabus)

Closely followed by Oh Deary Me (by Klute) and Sissy L'amour (by Juan MontaƱo)

Just can't believe that Wilbur Whatley was not in the top three.  That is the most awesome sculpt I've seen in months.  I wonder what the judging criteria were?  Probably completely subjective, therefore judges who had not recently read (as I have) 'The Dunwich Horror' would not have been able to appreciate Wilbur.

Agreed, but I suppose that is due to the cluedo side of the comp... I guess that's why pussyhat got in too.

I hope Whikbury will be released!
