Title: Looking for a vehicle...
Post by: Christian on September 08, 2010, 07:43:06 AM
That every Pulp game in Egypt needs!

And it can't be a gas/hot air balloon or aircraft (I have enough of those).

I also have plenty of civilian vehicles, so something armed would be ideal...

Citron halftrack...

@ gamer Mac I think you mean Citroën… The funny thing is that, here in Québec, "citron" (lemon) is a word that we use to describe very lame, dead beat, cars… ;)

We're British, if we had needed accents, the kind man from PC World would have given us a keyboard with them on..................  lol

Greetings

interesting. In Luxembourg a "Zitroun" (Lemon) is indeed a Citroën car as in phonetic a Ci-tro-en is not far from a Zi-trou_n  :D And most of the time old CX, DX, BX and such are meant *g*

Back to topic
In egypt you say...hmm what about some camel-drawn bucket car with sheet metal sidings and openings for the FN Mle 1930 or some other kind of weapons ;-)

Company B provided a photo of a German truck with an Indiana Jones figure next to it.  What is the name of the German truck and who is its manufacturer?  Thanks

Actually I think that the names Citroën and Zitrone, have the same background. Citroën cars were created by André Citroën, whose father was from a Dutch Jew family.

WaoowwWWWWWWW...! AND, THANK YOU, Nervisfr  :o this link reminded me of a TV series  a very long time ago... about « La Croisière Jaune » the Citroën expedition in Asia in 1931-32...

I searched a bit on Google and then I found this:
http://www.ina.fr/playlist/divertissement/la-cloche-tibetaine.298357.fr.html
It a small part of the film.

The name of the serie was « LA CLOCHE TIBETAINE » (because there was a Tibetan bell ringing on one car). It was on French TV in 1974, and in Germany in 1975, our German friends will find the reference here:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_gelbe_Karawane

One of the car drivers is actor Michel "Coluche" who later became very well-known in France.

It seems to be on sale on INA (official French cinema archive), I think I'll buy it:
http://boutique.ina.fr/video/fictions-et-animations/fictions-historiques/PACK455839442/la-cloche-tibetaine.fr.html

It is not totaly historical, it is a fiction loosely based on the 1931 expedition. It may look a bit old-fashioned but I think it was done with care and is much more accurate than many other films.

I remember one scene (and I wasn't playing Back of Beyond then !). At some moment in the expedition, they are captured by a Chinese Warlord. They want to send a morse message for help and they need to erect a mast for antenna. They say to the Chinese Warlord that it is the National Day of France and that they will hoist the French flag. But they have not record of the French National Anthem "La Marseillaise". So they play a record of a love song, "Parlez-moi d'amour", and they all salute and the Chinese soldiers present arms to this love song, while they send a morse message through a wire tied to the mast, and a French gunboat receives the message and comes to help them!  lol  Better than any Back of Beyond scenario...!  lol
