Title: Malware Incident 6th October 2010

At about 5:30 pm UK time I was logged in and clicked onto  "Show unread posts since last visit".  The page loaded with a whole load of viagra and erection related words at the top followed on the same page by what I would have expected to see.  I'd previously selected "Show new replies to your posts" and had got what I expected.

I immediately disconnected and ran a Malware program but I seem to be clean.

I'd used IE on a Windows platform.

Have now come back on and repeated the process but no erectile anomalies have presented themselves.

Just mentioning......

EDIT:  I originally posted this up as ocurring on the 5th....  It didn't, it was the 6th.  Heading now changed. My mind trys to be helpful but my fingers and eyes let me down.....

we had a new attack, it's cleaned now.

Have found and deleted four hidden hack scripts on server starting all the trouble, hope there aren't more scripts like that.

I'm really sorry but it's nothing I can prevent, only may hope to find all the traps.

Same thing happened to me just today (Oct. 6th) at around 1:45 EST. If the problem was yesterday than you still might have something today. Site was also listed in Maintenance mode for a little after wards.

I know this was some time ago, now, but I'm glad I read this - if I ever hit a trap, I'll now know to PM the Prof immediately!

I guess, with more and more users, more and more traffic, it's unavoidable to attract that kind of stuff.
