A video report on the Mantic Zombie Horde box set. I'm not impressed at the moment...

I picked up the Zombie horde too, the whole 60 were split between two boxes, both marked 60. I guess Malestrom games didn't know the horde was supposed to be two boxes.

That's a major blunder on behalf of Mantic, more than any retailer's fault.
You cannot expect 3rd party dealers to know that there's not in the box what it says on the cover (if that sentence makes sense... I'm tired and off to bed in a minute...)

I did wonder why they sent me two boxes when I got mine, I worried I'd messed up the order and bought two lots of 60.
On a positive note, they are nice models.

Its shitty done by Mantic to do a miss that great. But I assume that they've discovered the mistake and will take care of the misprint.
I want to know how suitable the miniatures are to convert to modern zombies? :)

I bought the 30 box at Derby at the weekend and I was a little confused then as to them fitting 60 figures in the other box as it's the same size. Makes sense that it's split over two boxes but yeah, I expect there are a lot of confused retailers and their customers. It's not shoddy or bad practice but it's definately a fuck up. To be honest it's something I've seen many times, the problem is the people designing the boxs etc know what they mean so it doesn't matter how many times they look at the box, they see what they expect to see. I'm sure they'll get it sorted. If I'd bought the 60 at Derby I expect I'd have only gotten 30 and be really annoyed.
On the plus side, these were the first Mantic figures I've bought and they're brilliant. I managed to make 31 out of my box of 30. You can in fact make 4 out of the sprue but then you'd have lots of upper torso's crawling across the floor and legs walking around with their spine sticking out. Personally I only wanted one of each of those. I'll probably buy more at some point, not sure you can have too many zombies.

I'm pretty sure it would be illegal, and prone to prosecution for 'marketing malpractice' to sell those boxes in Denmark. Here the label has to match the contents. As a consumer I'd expect to get 120 zeds if I bought 2 boxes each saying 60 on the label.

I suspect that unless it says something about two boxes then it's technically illegal over here as well. My point however was that it won't in any way be intentional. Mantic won't be trying to rip people off with this, it'll just be a fuck up and as such I doubt it'll be long before they sort it out.

Ah, yes, I did not mean to imply they were deliberately cheating (which would be a so obviously stupid thing to do that way), but that the fault is entirely theirs, as retailers cannot be expected to know that the labels and contents do not match.

So far I haven't had a reply from either Mantic or Maelstrom Games.
I am going to wait until Monday PM and then start launching the Ebay and Paypal complaint procedures. I find this often gets a response where polite personal mails get ignorred.
I have another Maelstrom order on its way and another from a different games shop. I expect I'll be writing a lot of letters :)

I too would be annoyed. With the retailer as well as Mantic, as they should know what they're selling. Both should be grateful for you bringing this to their attention. Best of luck.

I've been just about to go for Mantis open day and ask them about the "60 boxes" but they charge £2.50 for pleasure of seeing their faces. So I will not.

I've no interest in going but I thought you got something for your £2.50 though? I seem to remember reading somewhere that they wanted it to be free but did the charge so that they could control and track the amount of people there, however you got something for your entry fee...

The other thing is to report the matter to your local trading standards officer. They will certainly take the matter up for you and take Mantic to court.
I had a similar issue a few years ago with a computer programme where the wording on the packaging was wrong. Trading Standards refunded me in full and then fined both the retailer and the producer.

I bought a set from Dave at Derby and to be honest i was not impressed at all no real options and they looked lame, the GW ones are better, nice scults but lacked some thing......

I cant find it now but I think I noticed a post/news on the mantic site that says they stopped 60 zombie box. They sited a problem cramping all those zombies in the one box as a problem tough, which cant be true as they should come in two boxes???

They obviously haven't learnt to count yet,
I got my pre-ordered 'kings of war' set from them yesterday, As a pre-order deal it was supposed to have an extra 10 revenants including command.
Not in my box there wasn't!
i've emailed Mantic to let them know, and jopefully i'll get a reply during the week,

My second complete order has just arrived from Maelstrom games. Miniwargaming UK managed to send a correct order first time so now I have three complete hordes as intended. Once Maelstrom got in contact with me the issues were resolved quickly and professionally.
Mantic ignored my communication attempts but did finally leave a reply on the thread I started on their forums once others had chimed in too. They have removed the horde from sale pending 'repackaging'.

darn, those guys at mantic should really have their packaging division sorted out, this really sounds like one big heap of growing pains.

I really enjoyed the review of your webcam: "It's rubbish! Stupid webcam, utter crap." lol
That said with the issue sorted I'm looking forward to seeing your 180 zombies painted 8)

Looking hopeful so far,
I have to give Josh at Mantic his full due, I got an email this morning ( the first working day after i emailed my complaint!) asking for details and i've replied, so hopefully i'll be able o report good news shortly 8)

I got my 30 done in a day and used them at BLAM. I'm probably going to be getting more soonish but I don't think I'd do more than 30 at a time regardless of how many I end up with.

If I speed-painted I could maybe manage to do 30 in a month.... nah, 20....
And I have absolutely NO idea when I'll have regular painting time, again. Next Sunday we'll return the keys for our previous residence, then I can start arranging/tidying the office/study/hobby room to facilitate getting in there to get stuck in....
I think moving is too bothersome :-[

Zombies and perhaps robots are the only things I can paint at that pace and they won't win any painting awards :) I'll take a photo later.
