I started making this ages ago and started painting it a while back but didn't get very far before I had more pressing things to attend too breaking my cardinal rule for the first time, never start painting something new until I have finished the current project. But I am back to it now and giving it the love an £80 model deserves. It is made out of 2 high elf dragons and the rider from the khorne lord on juggernaut. Sadly in the new warhammer rules inorder to take this beast I would be a minimum of 4000 points........
Any way pictures so far
Rider still loads of work needed

Dragon is actually a lot further along than in the pictures, but it is late and I need to go to bed so it will have to wait till I take another picture sorry.

i just love it! wonderful conversion too
-
Awesome conversion! The base is magnificent
-
Cheers guys, only thing that bugs me is that the heads are too much at the same level, if I was to go back and start from scratch I would put them at different levels making the model's movement better, lesson learnt though.
@ Chairface
Sadly the base comes like that so I can't take the credit, only part I have added is the long dead impaled skeleton but not sure you can make that out yet other than the spear.
-
Little work on the dragon tonight....managed to snap the bloody spear on the base, more of a annoyance than any real problem, serves me for painting in my dressing gown after my run :/
pictures are poor but I want to paint rather than take hig quality WIP pictures, the nice ones will be saved for the finale :D

Lord is finished. Am rather happy with the result, I will definately be rebuying this model to paint on the juggernaut....have to say it is the nicest GW model I have ever painted, absolute joy from start to finish.

Only thing I wish I had done was loose the MASSIVE shield and given him a marauder sheild as though it was a buckler. Think it would have looked a lot cooler, but I suppose I can always do that on the juggernaut one :D
Thoughts?

Cool :)

The lord is looking very very nice indeed and not a drop of blood anywhere!
Jolly well done....
-
i love it!
can you tell me the colour schemes for the highlights?
i mean the red one, the metal, the gold and the leather one.
-
cheers guys
For Sangennaru
colours are mostly VGC range you will have to find out the equivilants
Red was basecoated charred brown, then blended up through gory red, blood red and orange fire, with a couple of glazes of 50/50 gory red and blood red at the end to pull the brightness of the orange back.
leather was done, base coat beasty brown, wash charred brown, layer up beasty brown, final highlights of 50/50 leather brown/plague brown , the leather on the reverse of the fur cloak was washed with ogryn flesh to make it look a little more like tanned leather.
gold was base coat tinny tin, layer brassy brass, layer of 50/50 brassy brass/VMC Old Gold, final highlight of old gold.
the steel was done using totally VMA paints. base of black, then layers of gun, steel and then final highlights of silver
-
Beautiful paint job! I love the red of the armour.
-
That is excellent!
Did you do any modification on the seat (other than the decorative part) or is it the same seat that comes with the dragon? Does the lord fit ok on it???
-
@ cianty
Thanks mate, have to agree with you there my favorite part too.
@ elhion
Yes I have to totally remake the seat....I used the old plastic empire horse saddle section and then added the robes from one of the highelf riders to make the saddle cloth and of course I added part of one of the chaos knight's shields as the front part as I felt it looked rather like a bloodletter.
Right now this is not finished but very nearly there, I would have gotten it finished today but I had to get a new tattoo done and then I spent the evening in the company of some good friends. I still need to do his "Skull Throne". Expect finished pictures tomorrow

Very impressive! The snow on the base is an inspired touch as it lightens up and frames the whole model very well. Kudos!
