Hi,
I've been searching the forum to find out who makes the best non-jaffa for not-Star Gate SG-1.
But... instead of getting more clever I feel more stupid now than when I set out.
I am only able to find one shop that is still doing Jaffa and that's Cold War. The rest of the suggested shops are not in business anymore I think?
I may have missed a shop or range.. but I'm not sure. So if anyone has knowledge of any other still in existence range of Jaffa please do post it! :)
EDIT: Not that I don't like the Cold War ones but they seem a bit wee.

Depends what scale you want -
GZG do some 15mm not really Jaffa and SG teams which to be frank I don't know how they managed to keep them when the 'purge' happened a few years ago! They are very nice though
In 28mm it is hard now - I got loads of the Eureka and Gripping Beast ones 'in the day' plus the under the counter Stargate from Monolith.
Not sure if Monolith are still doing the 36mm explorer team (SG-1) and sci fi figures with staff weapon (used them for Ori warriors rather than Jaffa).

Monolith still have the Jaffa types listed. If you send Steve a message he might have some of the team left.

Oh I'm strictly 28mm.
I'll check out monolouth immediately.

A company called Shield Wall Games used to do a nice range of Jaffa, but they stopped trading at least a year now back. They still owed me about £4 worth of stuff. :(

Hmm ok.
I feared as much. Has anyone got an idea about the size of the Cold War/Phoenix ones?
They appear to be awefully small if they're on 25mm bases in the pics (which I think they are).

Here is a comparison shot from a game at BLAM 09:

The Big Jaffa on brown/green bases are my Shieldwall ones, the chaps on sand coloured bases are the Phoenix ones.
Someone may have a better shot but that's the best I could find.
I was a bit worried, but after seeing them together I've been tempted to pick up a few from Cold War. It's just the cost that puts me off.

is that scale notice at the top complete nonsense then?

Thorbjorn, I don't know if you saw this thread of mine on your search:

It might give you an idea how they scale up with other manufacturers (there's a shot of them with figures from Heresy, Black Army Productions and Mirliton/Grenadier).
The Phoenix/Cold War figs are slight compared to most others, this comparison might help as well;

I found they mix well with Hasslefree, and are a height match for Copplestone but much thinner. You can see that quite clearly in the picture Revford posted.
Tell you what though, they do look quite pleasing en masse....

Thank you! That's a very good shot and very informative!
The jaffa should be at least a head taller than normal people... but I guess when the music's playing and all, you probably won't notice. Anyway - seing that there are no other companies out there but phoenix/cold war it is a rather easy decision. lol
