Title: More Aussies!
Post by: BattlewagonBruce on 27 October 2010, 09:51:33 AM
Here is another Australian themed set I have done using TAG and Battle Honors. I am working on an Aussie DUKW with a 25 pounder in for a guy down-under at present. I will post some shots as this progresses.

its an age thing - technophobe how do you set the size _ I followed the help instructions but I must be doing something wrong?

ok, little tutorial: google for imageshack. on imageshack select "picture", browse on your pc the image and click "open". then click on "upload now". when he pic has been uploaded look for the links under the uploaded picture. there is a link called "forum code". copy the whole text and then paste it on a post. it should work

I've used my mod-fu to check what you did and it's fine. Therefore the actual picture code is wrong, or has a segment missing. This usually occurs when you copy and paste the picture's web page 'address' from the page's address bar and not the picture's itself. The forum won't accept pictures this way.

I usually right click on the picture itself and select 'copy images url' from the menu. Then paste it on here as you did. Don't worry about size too much as I can alter that and then tell you how in another post.  :)

That makes sense - as I did the same with these photos as I did with other posts and they worked fine. I could also see them - so I was beginng to think I had gone a bit mental!

I think I will leave that batch of shots - they seem to have problems. I am nearly finished the Aussie DUKW with 25 pounder in , as nearly tried by the 6th Div in WW2. I will post some shots of these in a few days once complete.

Thanks for the reassurance, Jim.

I've learned one should never take anything from the fact that you yourself can see the picture. It doesn't mean anyone else can. Your PC will have stored a version of it away in its temporary internet files or whatever when you first viewed it and can call it up from there (or something like that, anyway). That won't work for anybody else if there is some problem with the link.

Hopefully we'll be able to see the whole thread as originally intended now you've got the hang of it.

Great paintjob mate! did you use airbrush? (yes, skydrive work  ;))
Title: Re: More Aussies!
Post by: BattlewagonBruce on 24 November 2010, 04:33:19 PM
Yes, I use a Vario Masterclass airbrush, which is quite old and not that good. I am getting a Iawata next, which means I will be able to do really detailed cammo patterns.

I have a lot of german vehicles on my workbench at present, which need this.

thanks for your kind comments

Thanks for your kind comments.

I have done all my Aussie stuff as 6th Div do far as my clients wanted those for family reasons. I notice your avatar is the 9th Inf Div marking. Did you have a relative serve in this?

I will be doing a few more Austrailan subjects soon - so watch this space.

Here is the DUKW with a US dodge.

The ferns come as sheets of white paper, lazer cut. You spray them with green paint, I find ink works well. I use the ink bottles you can buy in cheap stores for refilling ink cartridges. You could propably do this by hand if you do not have an airbrush.

When dry, you snip the connecting pieces of paper and then roll the ferns with a cocktail stick to get that bend.

Then a blob of pva and stick a few in by the stems. Once dry you can possition them - they are quite tough.

Alternativly you can buy finished figures of your choice from me at Battlewagons!

Here are some Russians I did for a guy in the US.

I doubt I could afford the figures, but I would love some of the ferns and jungle plants if you are selling those.

No the link isn't working for me either. Bruce is cracking with the brush, but not so hot with links -but given the painting we can all forgive him... maybe he's just teasing us?  ;)

I too would love to know where those plants are from.

Ah - I found them in a link in a previous post in this topic: http://www.tasca-modellismo.com/english/item4.html

But.... I can't find a way to order them from the web site.

I might have to get my Mrs (who is Japanese) to contact them for me.

Edit: ah - at the top of the page is a link: http://www.tasca-modellismo.com/english/eshopmain.html

You email them with what you would like and pay using pay pal  :)

There is a german manufacturer as well. I will try and post a link. I found them in Model Military International -a mag for plastic kit modellers which is excellent.

I think the german ones are prepainted from memory, although I have not tried them.

Ordering from the Japenese company is how you say - send them an email with what you want and they send you a  paypal invoice.

I have been a bit absent of late, but am doing a US dukw and 105 gun at present with a crew. I will post some shots once finished.

Our Kublewagen is in production and I have some shots of it ready to post soon.
