Heya LAFers! :D
I need some help and advice:
I've been rebuilding and repainting my Cryx force for some time and I think I found new color scheme for my army.
Test model (wip) below:

I am just wondering - should I add some glow on the model (orange? blue? green? other tone?) or just drop the idea and make it more "military-like" and less fantasy? :)
Any ideas? :)
-
the Green is awesome.I dont like the Decals, too much military Style. And Yeah Orange Eyes, please! ;D :D
At leas much better than all the Black Cryx Models you see everywhere...
-
Heeeey!
I painted some black Cryx stuff too! ;D ;)
-
Yeah i don't see Cryx doing decalls as everything is unique..Its never numbered like say Khador for instance..
Like the colour as well, but could do with a bit more weathering to make it look aged and menacing.
-
It will get weathering - it's a wip shot :)
I know Cryx doesn't seem to me as "organised" as other factions yet I am starting Mortenebra force and think well organized army will fit Toruk's top mechanic ;)
-
Yeah can see that as an idea though maybe he'd just daub numbers on them rather than fine decal work..
So it could work if you maybe damaged them a little or made them look less uniformed??
-
As I wrote - the model will get some chipped paint and weathering :)
I put early wip shots because I don't wanna screw this one up - as many model before by overdoing rust, weathering and damages... :(
-
Hmmm can you over do Rust on Cryx :D
-
Pfff, a question! lol

ahm, sorry Pal but i think the old Rust/Light Blue Painting is much cooler than the new Green... :-X
-
I also like it but I want to try something new this time ;)
-
I like the green.
however i hope you plan on rusting and weathering all that shiny silver on him.
-
I do, just don't wanna overdo it :)

I do, just don't wanna overdo it :)
See didn't we just discuss that :D

Painted the model a bit last night and orange turned out (surprisingly for me) well.
Pics tonight... 8)

:)

Like that mate.
How did you do the weathering?? I can never get it right whnever i try.
-
I use 2 techniques - both very similar:
1. diluted layers of paint: browns, greens and black; it takes time waiting until each layer is dry so you can paint another yet it gives you smooth blending
2. dry pigments + water: works almost the same as diluted paint BUT pirments can give you kinda textured surface :)
-
very nice

Now that is a cool Jack. Keep on!
-
It is done - more than enough for gaming :)
Next one is plastic version of this model.
Hope you like it!

That green camo look is way cooler than the usual paint scheme the books suggest!
-
I didn't want to post another thread so decided to update this one :)
Last night I finished second helljack for my army: again it's reaper but this time it's new plastic version...
I must say it's nice yet working on metal models is just waaaaay more pleasant...
Hope you like it anyway :)
I was asked to share my way of painting these minis so sooner or later an article will appear in tutorials section of my site (http://plinthcountry.com/) :)

oh yeah!
My new Cryx force is "jack - heavy" ;D
-
ok, silly question...
the 180 arc on your bases, how did u do it?
such a simple thing and yet i manage to screw it up by painting mine either 142 or 198
i just cant seem to get it right once the model is on.
perhaps i should tape it off BEFORE the model goes on teh base?
tell me please
-
Hehe, I must say I didn't measure it:
I don't know if there's exactly 180 - probably isn't...
You can use these (http://jubei.ceyah.org:8081/~jandrese/youngwolf7/Effects/WM_FrontArc.pdf) for marking 180 degrees :)
