Hi all
Here's something a bit different from the usual 28mm figures that most people post here. I hope you enjoy these as well.
I've been repainting and rebasing my fantasy figures in an effort to consolidate what 6mm fantasy figures I have. First up are the Undead and Evil Knights by Irregular I have finished in the last couple of months.
Knights

Mummies

6mm Halfings! (well about 3mm tall)

You can see them all here http://s1022.photobucket.com/albums/af342/6mmwargamin/6mm%20Fantasy/
I've just added a few more pictures of some Undead, Halfings and Evil knight figures
which have been repainted and rebased and they are here

OMG AMAZING!
Would you consider painting mine on commission?
F'ing AMAZING!
-
I certainly enjoy that!
Is it age, is it storage space, is it amount for money... who can tell, but I find myself hovering more and more towards the smaller scales (6mm and 10mm) myself. I even think I`ll enter this years Lead Painter League only with small scalers, if only to tackle lead mountain lol
Great work mate, I especcially like the mummies for their wrappings et all
-
The mummies are indeed fantastic - love the additional touch of the tomb on their base!
Got to admit - massed ranks of minis advancing across the table is pretty appealing - I too feel the lure of smaller scales... :o
-
Good to see some of God's own scale on here...

I think the attraction is a combination as well as how massive your gaming table becomes when using 6mm.
This is my dining table, which seats six, with a 6mm game laid out. I've not got a room big enough to do similar in 28mm, nor enough pieces...

Thanks all for the comments. :) I will keep posting updates to this thread. I've almost finished the rest of the undead and some more creatures.
Sorry no commissions although I maybe selling some of these soon to finance my LoTR 6mm project.
I agree that 6mm works best en masse and is still cheaper than 28mm for large armies (although I'm not knocking 28mm figures as I own plenty myself). I think with 6mm you can still have figures that stand out in an army along with the mass effect.
Hey 6mmphil, whats happened to all the 6mm stuff on your blog? I used to enjoy reading your posts.... BTW very nice table and I recognise some from your blog.
Cheers

We`re still building on our scenery collection though, so it`s still a bit sparse on our tables, though we did (finally) started actual playing 6mm scifi since yesterday instead of just planning and buying armies lol

Well quite literally nothing. The boy slug corrupted me towards doing some 28mm and the three projects we're doing simultaneously have become all consuming when it comes down to time. Don't panic though the 6mm machine will roll again once one of the 28mm projects is out of the way, which should be by spring 2011.
The thing with 28mm is the increase in scale is also an increase in time taken to do any damn thing. It's easy to spend 4.666r times more on everything, so whereas you'll easily get a tank painted, based and finished in a single sitting not so in the larger scale. Combine this with inability to keep our wallets closed at salute and you have one mighty distraction.
-
I hear you. I finished off a 28mm ancients army last year and it took so much time.
I can knock out 6mm figures so fast in comparison. I've hardly painted any 6mm this year but now thats all i'm painting and you feel like you are getting somewhere.
More 6mm fantasy soon (hopefully)
Cheers

Mammoths
(http://i1022.photobucket.com/albums/af342/6mmwargamin/6mm%20Fantasy/Even%20more%20fantasy/mammoth1.jpg)
I have more so keep bugging me.
Next time I will post with a 28mm figure to give you an idea of the size for those of you who arent familiar with the 6mm scale.

OMG!!!!
I wouldnt even be able to see most of those figures, they are Fantastic!
I can see WHY you use such smale scales, I just cant SEE them to paint them.
Amazing stuff, cant wait to SEE more!
-
Lovely
What size bases do you use for the 6mm strips, I have some minis to base...
Thanks
Considered youself bugged, if there's more I want to see it all!
Which rules do you use?
-
What a lovely project! I have considered doing 6mm fantasy in the past and using HOTT or warmaster, depending on how complicated I want to go!

40x20mm or 40x40mm for the larger creatures
The rules I use are Fantasy Rules! 3 by Chipco games

Wow, these are very nice pieces and you managed to put a lot of character in the camp scene even if it's only 6mm scale, impressive! 8)
-
Those look great!!! I didn't even know that there were 6mm fantasy. Warmaster is 10mm, right?

Yeah that's right

Amazing work! I really love it when people do things other than 28mm, gives a nice change! Excellent work, I absolutely love them!
-
Thanks all for the kind comments. I wasnt sure about posting on this forum as it is mostly filled with some wonderful 28mm figures, but it good that the smaller scales are also appreciated.
More soon, once I find some more photos, and finish off some 6mm hobbits which have been on the painting desk for 9 months. The light is good enough here now I can see them to paint them!
Cheers

:-*
Stunning, sir!
-
Been selling all my 6mm stuff over the last years as i find 10mm has a lot more detail and looks a lot better, while still keeping all the advantages of 6mm (price, storage etc,).
I started 6mm in the 1990s before you could get any 10mm.
Lovely collection though.Well done.
-
Yeah I know what you mean, but with new manufacturers like Baccus and Microworld games the quality has improved a lot. However there is still a lot of gaps in everyones ranges.
I will build up another 6mm army for LoTR some day and now with Baccus dark ages figures I can use them for Rohan. Before the options were limited to Irregualr or H&R.
Cheers
