hi,
Naran's website, section Naran Future Wars, has been updated with a new page dedicated to the game we played Sunday, November 14:
Modern Italian Forces (Alpini - mountain troops) vs. Zombies of Paraqua.
This is the direct link to the page:

and these are some of the images of battle:

Hmmmm, who makes the alpini? they look like quite nice figs.
The photos look ok, but unless I'm being blind today, there's no text.... A few commentaries would be nice. What rules system did you use?

hi,
many thanks for appreciation.
The Italians are 28 mm miniatures of Venexia - Modern Italian Forces series, this is the link to their website:
http://www.venexiaminiatures.com/
The Zombies are a mix of miniatures Copplestone - GamesWorkshop (Necromunda) and Mantic Games
We use the rules book made by us changing (significantly) the old Grenadier's Fantasy Warriors, that now it can be downloaded - free - from the italian firm Mirliton:
http://www.mirliton.it/photo-gallery/index.php?cat=5
You can free download the Naran Future Wars Rules Book from our site, with many armies lists. See the section "Naran Future Wars" (button on the Home-page).
Sorry, it is in the italian language only.
Mr. Stefano Grazzini - owner of Mirliton - is aware of this and did not object to the fact that we have put our new futuristic Naran Future Wars Rules Book at our site, freedownloaded.
Although the gameplay design and structure is about the same of Fantasy Warriors, with regard to the tables of profiles and test, in fact it is a totally new game, with many parts written from scratch by us (such as the arsenal of weapons and vehicles and several new special rules). It should be taken into account by some editor, who could translated it into English and possibly in other languages, with a professional look. We cannot do it. Mirliton seems not interested to do it.
For this game we played the scenario "Restraining ("Contenimento") that can be downloaded - always free of course - from the following page on our site:
http://www.naran.it/FutureWars/Scenari/TempiModerni/Scenari_02_Zombies_Contenimento.htm
Sorry, it's only in Italian, but maybe you can help with the automatic translation of Google (I'm using it to write this answer).
Bye,

O.K., thank you.

Lest my eyes deceive me, there's also some Wargames Factory plastic zeds in there.
And I still think, even though they're not the most fantastic minis, they have their use, especially as fillers in a mixed horde like this. ;)

That's what I thought.

That's what I thought too. Are we related?

I think the term is 'kindred spirits' lol
But, really, I think the most important thing about the hobby is to get some minis on the table - preferably painted ones - and get stuck in. High quality minis with lots of accentuated detail can be really important if you want to have a beautifully painted group of individuals, and I like to have 'stand-out' zeds in my games, too, especially when playing rules that do not require more than 15-20 zeds for a scenario. When playing Dead walk Again, on the other hand, you easily get between 50 and 100 zeds on the table during a scenario, and numbers are more important than individuality - so cheap fillers are needed!

He, Argonor,
yes you are right! Sorry, I forgot to mention them.
Congratulations, you have a good view.

Yes, You are right.

Kindred spirits? Perhaps but let's not rush towards the mediocre, if you're wealthy or there's some Danish castle waiting to be claimed by a long lost relative who is me then I'd prefer to be related. :P

I generally agree, although I was rather disappointed with those plastics meself. I rationalised how they where just fifty pence, half a euro a piece, but the reality was... well the differance between Hollywood and Reality. I'm slowly increasing my Zed swarm, and I'd not touch plastic again...

Ahh, good old Italian zombies. :)
