I am very pleased to announce that we have bought the rights to the 28mm SF range Cobalt-1 from Bob Naismith. This includes all the existing figures, 20 new greens and the Cobalt-1 and Cobalt-2 rulebooks.
Bob is delivering the moulds, etc next week and I imagine it will take a few weeks to look through everything, work out which codes need production moulds (where only Master moulds exist) and sort out packaging, photos, etc.
I expect to start re-releasing the range in January and hope to have the unreleased greens into production in time for the Salute Show in April 2011.
We will be combining Cobalt-1 and Cobalt-2 into one new, revised rulebook and publishing it as both hardcopy and a PDF. There will be a call for playtesters for the system at some point early next year.
We will also be working with Bob to extend the range over the next few years.
Many thanks
Mike

Sounds good, there are a quite a few nice characters in that range.
-
That's really rather excellent. :)
I picked up a bag of the Aruk minis from Matakishi at last year's BLAM and was meaning to fill them out a bit, and pick up some of the human spacers with the funky clear helmets. Never got round to it though.
Looks like I may be stopping by at Vapa in February if everything goes to plan. :D

Pictures of these miniatures at all?

cool!
I have just been painting some of those figures and wondering where they went. Now I know!
They'd be perfect for stuff like AE Bounty

I'm afraid that we won't be at Vap next year, I'm cutting down on long distance shows for the moment...

Great news! I've been trying to track down some of those human spacers (with the clear helmets) for a long time now. They're perfect for generic sci-fi, and I was planning on using lots of them for Star Mogul and some general sci-fi skirmish games that I really want to play. I'll pick up some of the aliens too - they look great!
Good news!

Well that range looks rather unique and interesting! I wish you the best of luck with the new range and rules! :D

Good news - there are some interesting miniatures in the range.

I remember seeing these when I was a lot younger. I really thought they were cool and really wanted some. Hey, maybe someday I will pick some up. :)

Well done Mike!
The best of luck with them!

Oh, shame. Still, I can understand why you need to. Hmmm... If only there were some way I could look at and order stock from a distance... ;)

Those aliens are very good. I only knew the Human spacers :o

Hi i have a full set of the Ar men, very cool minis :-*

Some exceptionally nice minis! I can't believe I've never come across them before.

I don't know their full journey, but I picked some up from West Wind a few years ago, then I seem to remember Bob Nasmith was selling them directly from his website with some strange system I can't quite remember, but it put me off ordering from it.
Now they're going to to be available again, I'll have to pick up the squid looking fellas I've been after. :)

Even still with the collective love of fellow LAFers, I can't recall having seeing any in LPL or anywhere for that matter either - a seriously overlooked series of minis.

This one made it to BLAM the last two years:

But you're right, I've not seen them about much. Even the human miniature encyclopedia Dewbakuk had trouble identifying him. :)
-
I'd like to get some of those human spacers in the bubble helmets - I think they would be good for "The Forever War"-style games, i.e. more modern and "brutal" than more "retro" lines like Hydra.
-
The helmets themselves would make for nice conversion potential.
Gracias,
Glenn
