Title: Gripping Beast/Woodbine's new scarecrow-friendly proxy range
Post by: Jet Simian on 24 November 2010, 10:10:09 AM
Apologies if anyone's posted this already, but I'm intrigued by GB's new previews, particularly the likely application in that classic Future Wars scenario, scarecrows attack pre-War public school:

Is that the first not-Martha figure anyone's made?

I did, but it was hidden away on the WWI board (I was telling folks about the new WWI stuff mainly).

Odd you mention Martha. In my thread I was lamenting the lack of a Martha. Which one would you say was supposed to be her? (the pics are quite small, so it's hard to tell)

Is Martha the right hand female on the squire's set ?

Would have to be, I guess. Only one that really fits. Can't really comment on the quality of the likeness from that pic, though.

Another Cavorite implant mini...

Oh, spotted now - sorry! And cheers for the lovely shots of Freema  8)

I assumed she's the figure of the Maid and not the Matron, but as has been said, the detail's not quite clear enough to tell. The Family look splendid though, including little Aphasia's balloon which, as readers of the original novel may recall, really came into its own in a way it didn't on the telly...

I'd still like a civvies figure of Martha though - call her Joan Mathis or something, the leather jacket could be any colour you like and I reckon it'd be a nice one to paint.

No need to apologise. Who would think to look in the WWI section for Not-Doctor Who figures? Only an idiot would post about them there.  ;D

I can't speak for all the LAF Freema uniform fetishists...

...But I'm holding out for a Junior Crown Prosecutor Freema action figure (that pic's for Carlos).  :)

Someone's done a Martha in the leather jacket.  I've got it, I was hoping I could tell you the manufacturer but unfortunately they didn't mark their figures.   I got it over a year or so ago and I've no idea who made it.  It's not a great sculpt--body proportions are little wonky and the pose seems unnatural.  Got it as a set with 10 and Donna.  If there is interest in checking it out, I'll dig around and see if I can find an invoice in my email.

That sounds like Mystic Spirals (http://www.mysticspirals-miniatures.co.uk/MS_ModernHorrorShop.html  (http://www.mysticspirals-miniatures.co.uk/MS_ModernHorrorShop.html)) which I was put onto only today. Yeah, I can see your point about them. Credit for giving it a go I guess, but not my bag, really!

Yes--those are the ones I was talking about.  Hopefully some alternative proxies are produced sometime soon...
