So have at it.

So far that would be then 2 Lizard Rider command stands, a EuroFed Glorie artillery tank and a EuroFed Tassigny smart missiles tank. Gotta love 6mil it paints like a TGV on XTC lol
-
Well, I might just get something into this one, as I just started painting again yesterday.
Don't we normally make these threads at the closing of the month?

I'm no longer sure, though I did refrain from starting 'What I painted in January 2011', because I thought that maybe was pushing it just a bit too much.

Here are some of the figures I painted this month…

In this picture, you can see how big those Gnomes really are...
The Pulp Figures are for a commission work while I ordered the Gnome Wars French Cream Puff Mortar just to see what these figures look like "in the flesh". I like them and I’m pretty sure I will order some more soon.
I will edit my post during the month if I get the time to finish other figures.

Wow - those Gnomes look like they should be 40mm or 54mm (since Gnomes are supposedly smaller than men). They look fun though.
Very nice work Dany, as usual!
-
Thanks AzSteven, Here’s yet more Pulp Figures painted this month. Also for a commission work… please excuse the poor quality pictures…

I have to admit I'm a big fan of Calimero's painting style. Those solid colours make his figures look like they were taken right out of a Tintin album. Keep up the good work!
Yours truly,
Sir Dryden
-
Camilero those are excellent paint jobs, make the figures look really 'pulpish'

yes, that's it! ^^ i was trying to identify the style, and it is exactely the tintin one!

Ligne claire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_claire) as applied to miniatures - hadn't thought of it that way, but it's true. Very nice.
Oh, and in the December painting achievements list: one (1) 28mm kilt in recognizable MacKenzie tartan. Looks pretty damn good, if I may be so bold. Thank Dog it's a single figure, not a whole bleeding unit of Highlanders!
-
Calimero,I love your stuff :-*
Guy
-
I'm always delighted to see painted Hinterland. But, whew, you should take out stock in Pulp Figures. :o Nice paintjobs all around.
-
Thank you for your comments pals ... I think Sir Dryden is right even though I never thought of that myself. I think this style of painting really complete the figures Bob sculpted. It is both a (fairly) easy and effective method.
lol @ Mancha, what can I say? I like to paint Pulp Figures... by the way, does someone need some Pulp Figures to be painted? ;)
-
Yet more figures finished… and look , they’re not Pulp Figures lol
Figures available thru Brigade Games in the US and sculpted by LAF’s whiffwaff

True, you have a unique style that really suits Pulp Figures' stuff. Good work!

I made and painted both figures, but only the figure on the right was done this month. I was experimenting with the firing pose. The figures are 42mm and made from wood. I have tutorials on how to make the figures on my Wooden Warriors blog (http://wooden-warriors.blogspot.com/).

Sometimes they remind me of "Southpark Napoleonics". lol
Dale
-
@ Dale, I really like your wood soldiers and I think that they look great "en masse". I wasn’t sure about the firing pose at first but after looking at it a few times I’m starting to really like it 8)
Sometimes they remind me of "Southpark Napoleonics". lol
Southpark Napoleonics... that sound about right ;)
-
Thanks. I tried several ways to represent the pose and although the "straight arm" look is anatomically incorrect, aesthetically it looked better than all my attempts at creating a bent arm.
-
Those wooden Nappies are very, very inspiring.
I am tempted to make myself some, I love how low-tech they are. I could whip them up at uni in a day. I could even cast some of them in metal at uni!
I'd probably use them for 'Little Wars' or for Song of Drums and Shakos...
But I am also tempted to make some large-scale Wooden fantasy creatures. My girlfriend would Looooove that. :)
-
I started a new serial on my blog just to keep myself motivated to keep painting instead of playing World of Tanks lol
Process so far: http://tomsche69.blogspot.com/2010/12/project-lame-ass-first-batch.html
With over 400 pounds of mail orders placed this weekend to round out projects and the promise to myself (mwuahahaha yeah right) to stop buying till lead mountain is reduced by a third, I should be going steady now (and if I repeat that enough to myself, I might even start believing it)

Marble statue, falcon perch and spider
(http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a369/SirAlban/DSCF3580.jpg)
-
Excellent stuff. May I ask where the falcon perch comes from? Been looking for something like that for my Renaissance tournament table for ages.
-
The perch was made in plasticard, the falcon (painted as a hawk, harris eagle and goshawk) are from the Rackham "Falconers of Alahan":

I've handmade a French Napoleonic Vivandiere from wood.

Still waiting on some parts in order to make an artillery piece. Maybe I'll finish the French drummer in the meantime...
Have a good holiday.

Invader - some good stuff there.
Did you make those movement tray or are commercial?
If so where did you pick them up, and what size base do they take?
-
@ Silent Invader - I agree, that is very good looking terrain. I really like the snake rail fences. What scale is it?
Dale
-
Dale, love the Vivandiere.
There were many discussions on the Flintloque group about having one sculpted up as an elf, I may well have to... :)
-
Thanks chaps.
@Col.T
Regarding the trays, the short answer is that they are scratchbuilds, some entirely and others assembled from parts I had LAFer JimBibbly of Oshiro Terrain make for me. They are designed to accomodate 28mm minis on 1p coins for bases. The long answer, including a step by step of my experimentation, can be found here:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=24480.0
@DH
Thanks, everything is scratchbuilt for 28mm minis. There's more about the farm and house, including the snake rail fencing, on this LAF thread here:

I don't really know much about the Flintloque rules, themselves, but I would like to hear some ideas about how what sort of rules they were considering for her. A sort of "Combat Medic" leaps to mind, and of course having a hidden dagger, in case someone gets a little to cheeky, but that's about it. Maybe "Steady Under Fire" too. A lot of them were brave lasses.

I hope it's ok for a newbie to post here too, but as I have been pretty busy this month, I thought I'd share what I've done.
I ordered some Great War Minis and I thought that they were a joy to paint up, definitely planning to get more in the future.

And as a change of pace, some Perry dismounted French dragoons.

Be gentle in your criticism, chaps. It is the festive season after all. lol

A good game to me is a game with character, not carefully written rules. I like loose rules which you can twist as a GM.
Flintloque is a nice little rules system, it is no Command and Colours (which I believe destroys any attempt at Romantic Fiction), but more character driven.
A lot of the time, the model is sculpted and then the rules are made. I am sure though, the idea would have been that she was a morale booster but also some kind of basic field medic.

No reason to be gentle at all; they look quite good. I especially like the dragoons. You should think about getting a better camera; you could show off the figures better. The one you have is grainy.
Good job!

I really like these guys. I take it that you use the same basic, cartoon figure and convert it to different characters using Green Stuff can paint conversions?
Looks great!

Well, the latest ones are conversions, but there's a load more unconverted figures (though a lot of them are rather rare and near impossible to find now).
You can see all the ones I did so far here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=7668.0 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=7668.0)
Not sure what you mean with the question at the end. Whether it's ok to paint over greenstuff? Never had any problems with it and I do it all the time.
-
@ white knight, nice to see that you’re still working on those Lucky Luke figures :)
@ Dale Hurtt, lovely work on the vivandière 8)

@Dolmot. that Zoyberg Holmes is a conversion? and the big white thing?
Most of the minis are from RAFM's Lovecraft Country set (http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF02012&Category_Code=COCB), that is, a collection of Dunwich Horror characters. Another paintjob of those was seen here (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=2186.0) a few years ago, done by iago. I added a few more tentacles to the horror to blend its parts better together. No other modifications there, I think.
The consulting detective is from Black Cat Bases (http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=437_537&products_id=2555). He sometimes arrives when the game is afoot. (To be honest, he was a filler mini to get started again after too much real work and a break from painting. Don't ask, what made me think it was a good idea to include both check and pinstripe patterns to a quick filler mini. Almost ended up to the Thread of Woe...)
The stumps are hard plaster casts by Foundations of War (http://www.foundationsofwar.co.uk/). Needed some work, but turned out alright, I think.
All this stuff has now been added to the 2010 summary (http://dolmot.net/mini/painted_2010/) too.

I got a few things done in December, I also made a visit to Eureka and added a few more Gendarmes including ones on unbarded horses to my leadpile
I bought these 8 a while ago but finished them just before Xmas and have made a start on the unbarded ones now

Thanks, Rob.
Yes, Pendraken. Really great figures and a joy to paint (even with my declining eyesight). Hence I'm down-scaling all my figures, except my HOTT armies, to 10mm.
-
Three walls!
Still to sort the skirting / coving and possibly the ceiling.
I did get the window sanded but the original wood preservative / stain is so bad we could be looking at a new window as some are going rotten.
Seems like I posted this last month as well :'(
Soon be done and then back in force.

Thanks, Rob.

Yeah, I have painted a few before (for HOTT actually), I generally use smaller 15mm stuff anyway, so it all mixes up nicely.
I'm tempted by USE ME Fantasy and using Pendraken miniatures for that...
