Title: Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in Italy
Post by: BattlewagonBruce on 02 December 2010, 04:58:43 PM
I have done a few sets of 7th A&S Highlanders in Italy in '44.

My great uncle served with this regiment in WW2.

I do infantry and a/t guns in this range.

I will post more images if people are interested.

The figures are conversions using some Brigade Games heads and Artizan bodies. The officer was a left over - I think Westwind? The kneeling guy in the cap-comforter is my favourite.

All my stuff is 28mm 1/56 scale. The figures are £7.50 each, based and finished.

Here are some other sets  I did for a guy in The States.

Love the conversion work Bruce on the Vickers VIB an especially the crew poking out of the hatches.

Painting up some Eight Army and need some painting advice please when you have a moment, thanks.

Cheers,

Helen

Is the 5.5" gun the old Dinky diecast? If so I'll have to get one or two of those.

Dear Helen

Thanks for the kind comments. I use a mag called Model Military International for a lot of reference - they have run a monthly piece on the Caunter scheme in Middle Eastern Command now for a while - this month is the Rolls Royce Armoured Car for example. I also used a good article following a guy putting a plastic kit together in 1:35 for detail and colour reference. I will dig out the mag and let you know the details. Just remember - No Azure Blue in the Caunter scheme if you want to be accurate.

As regards the 5.5 inch guns, yes they are Dinky, that is what we at Battlewagons do - reuse unlikely diecast toys amd models to produce nice objects for display or wargames. I have a few 5.5's in stock at present. They are £30 ea as finished guns excluding crew. Let me know if you want a few.

Here are some of my Artillery sets by commparison:

Nice work but as it happens it's also what I do, albeit not for commercial purposes. Buy cheap on Ebay or flea markets, convert and repaint, probably not as nicely as yours but they suffice for my puposes.
