Has anyone else seen these yet!? Bolt Action Chindits! Wow are these nice. Especially like the commanders (Furgusson and Wingate) and the Burmese scouts. Sculpted by Paul Hicks. These are definitely on my TO GET list (I was planning on Gaming Burma/India anyway). Now we need Merrill's Marauders and British equipped Chinese troops and we're all set!

Never played ww2 but those are stunning specially the scouts and officer. :o

Great looking models. Bolt Action has also released a plastic box set of WW2 British.

Thanks Scott for the news.
Paul has worked his magic once more and looking at some of the previews of the forthcoming Chindit release we will not be disappointed.
Warlord Games are going from strength to strength.
I look forward in seeing their Japanese.
Cheers,
Helen

No worries Helen. Wonder if Paul will also sculpt their Japanese!? That would be a treat as they would mix well with Brigade's Japanese.

Hi Scott,
I wouldn't think so. I'm willing to bet it will be the same sculptor as the US Marines which is not a bad thing. Nice to have variety, don't you think?
Cheers,
Helen

I'll wait and see, but generally I prefer Paul's sculpting style, but others will enjoy them.
-
These are great but would it be possible to have some more Burmese troops please?
Wingate was barking mad. Of course I'll be getting them.
-
Paul Hicks reached a new level of awesome. :-*
-
I found interesting they called Wingate Mr. instead of General... anyway the best way to ruin the infantry equivalent of 2 divisions for almost no strategic purpose, becoming overly famous for a failure and making me drook for the minis (that can serve also as more successful XIV army troops!

I am still grumpy that they decided to do the Pac War and not North Africa, but the figs do look good. Too bad I already have a whole army of TAG Chindits.
-
They are great looking miniatures - I think I'm going Pacific as soon as I finish my NWE Brits.

Seriously!? Yeah...there's NO figures out there for North Africa...

Is that not counting the massive Artizan range?!?
;)
-
Artizan, Black Tree, and probably others...yes. It's basically been done to death, but the Pacific Theatre...specifically the British and Commonwealth troops are all but ignored. Truly a Forgotten Army!

They look great!

Well, there are teeny range (is number of figures not price! lol) of Foundry Chindits as well!

In fact I wounder how the two ranges match up?
-
I've got a mixture of Bolt Action and Foundry stuff from the British Paras and Germans and it all looks right together to me. I'd guess the Chindits would match up too.
-
I have got all the TAG Chindits but I think these ones are even better!

Except for the TAG range of Chindits and Japanese, and the Battle Honors Chindits and Japanese, oh and the Brigade Games Marines and Japanese (Did I mention that they were sculpted by the Bolt Action sculptor?),and the Brigade Games Aussies (which, incidentally can be used as Chindits) and the TAG Marines and Japanese, and the Westwind Marines and Japanese, and...
The Black Tree Africa stuff is pretty badly sculpted. The Artizan stuff is nice, but the sculptor himself admits that the bayonets are so huge as to be absurd. Westwind has very little and only the latest packs actually scale with other modern WW2 ranges.
Yes, Africa is prolific, and the Pac War is "all but ignored." ;)

That's good to know, thanks Revford.

Sadly they are Bloody awful.

I don't game WWII much apart from FWW, but these chindits are very nice. I fondly remember my 1/72 Airfix set when I see them. These Burmese scouts are particularely nice. I am tempted to use them for my NWF board. Those guns look like SMLE no1 Mk III, don't they?

I would go as far as to say that 'they are'. :)

I just perused the Osprey "Chindit" book an it looks very good. Any reviews from holders of such book?

Hi Helen,
Not seen that one. Is it new? How is it?
I have "Khaki Drill and Jungle Green" which is an excellent reference - all original uniforms and gear worn in period settings. It really shows just how much the colours could differ with age, fading, dirt and use; Amazing.

Thanks Scott,
I was perusing through the book at a local games store yesterday. The colour plates were very nice and now I can see where Paul Hicks may have used the colour plate for Mr Windgate or something similar. There is a nice colour plate of weapons used by the Chindits. Suprised to see the Piat!
Cheers,
Helen

A great read and along with Khaki Drill and Jungle Green and The British Army of WW2 far east made up the research for the range.
