Hi guys, got a few emails over the Christmas holiday about Skulldred.
I am just working on the new Skulldred release at the moment. Here is some of the nice stuff....
- Simple one line of text to describe models attributes (clumsy large creature, fast large hero, poor minion, adept shooter w. magic armour)
- Optional element rules allow for rectangular multibased elements to move, and movement tray 'remove casuality' based mass combat. 8 cm frontage used so you can tack 3 large or 4 small square bases onto strips and have a little room for multibasing. These rules also cover moving large rectangular vehicles or creatures.
- Dice back to normal D6. Hit dice is how much damage you do, 'to-hit' is how good you are at doing it. Thus clumsy giant rolls 5 dice and has a 2 in 6 chance to hit on each, or a dependable mighty Halfling lord rolls 2 dice but has a to-hit of 5.
- Dropped guard mechanic- roll zero hits on an attack, opponent may double his hits. Thus halfling grunt can, if very, very, very lucky, take down a dragon.
- Special D6 Action Dice covers stupidity, fear, cunning, initiative and engineering in one mechanic!
- Rules condensed even further. Book waaaaay smaller!
- Optional 5 standard base span stick added for faster moving units.
- Special sticker marked D6 Action Dice covers stupidity, fear, cunning, initiative and engineering in one dice roll mechanic.
- Triple span changed to quad span for ranged combat and spell effects
- I promise to not alter the character builder costs at the last moment thus throwing out the examples as in the last release.... doh ;)
Will post a link here once the new rulebook is up!
Thanks for patience and help- obviously Skulldred is currently running fourth place to my LIFE/WORK/MINIATURE BUSINESS balance - hence quiet forum and blog!
Any other suggestions warmly welcomed as usual!
-
Will enjoy. Great summary. Long live brevity! :)
-
Sounding good - looking forward to playing the latest version at some point... :D
Might have to wait till I get my Dwergs painted up though! ;)
-
I am still getting stuff together to try this out :( I'm really excited about the new version though, it's a great set of rules from what I've read.
-
Thanx!
Oh yes, HAVE to do that game soon Christian!
I really feel like putting together a John Blanche inspired, super heavily converted chaos troupe for my force. I was going to do orcs, but I think you called dibs on that right?
-
Yeah I've got some Black Orcs and a few others based, just not painted yet :D I like your idea though. Still, two orc forces bashing away at each other...
-
Ork bash off. Nice!
I add optional gore counter rules, so you can leave puddles of goo when you kill something big time. You can either place a new one from the pile, or take one from somewhere else on the field. That would really work for orcs :)
Skulldred beta 2.0 progress...
Basics, Combat and Movement chapters done. Currently crunching numbers on character generation. Yawn.

So you using round or hex bases for your orcs Christian?
-
Hex bases! They look quite nice. I'll send you a pic of my guys :)

Sweet!
