Title: Non-human pirates
Post by: oldskoolrebel on 05 January 2011, 06:33:37 PM
Good Evening all,

Later in the year I'm looking to buy and paint some models for Triple Aces wonderful Sundered Skies Campaign. There is a call for several non-human pirates and sailor types. I'm aware of Black Scorpion's non-human pirates but do others exist?

Specifically I'm looking for:
Orcs
Dwarves
Goblin
Elven?

Cheers
Andy

From the top of my head:

Pirate Dwarves: Armorcast (former Olleys armies figures), Games Workshop (Long Drong's slayer pirates)
Pirate Orcs: Black Hat, some of the Foundry War orcs are appropriately dressed
Pirate elves: maybe the Foundry revenant elves (depending on your favoured era)
Pirate goblins: Freebooter

Other:
Pirate undead: Reaper (Warlord range, Razig faction, see my post in the 'pirate models' thread below), Moonlight Miniatures, Ziterdes, Warmachine, Fenryll
Pirate succubus: Reaper
Pirates of the carribean style Davey Jones figures: Tins bits
Pirate halflings: Alionas

Black Scorpion

He said he knew about those.  ;)

Also, more undead at Black cat bases, Eureka Miniatures and Old Glory.

Maxmini do these orc heads (designed to fit on GW orc bodies):

And MicroArt Studio do these orc bodies (they come without the head) that are also designed to fit GW orc arms:

Throw those sets together along with some GW plastic orc bits and you should be able to get some pretty good orc pirates.

I'm surprised that White Knight didn't point you to the Frother's list:

GW has Long Drong's dwarf pirate slayers:

And Hasslefree has a few characters to choose from:

Especially as I wrote it.  lol
TBH, it's badly out of date.

Yeah, it mentions the Crusader orc pirates, which are no longer produced by Crusader miniatures.  Do you remember who had them now?

Black Hat, I mentioned them in my first post.  :)

Thank you all for the advice,

As I said earlier I'm not planning on purchasing any of the fine fellows yet. Much later in the year. But I'll bookmark this thread just now.

Cheers
Andy
