Post by: assi on 10 January 2011, 10:56:59 AM
I toying with the Idea to buy a Perry ACW Cav Box to use in Legends of the West Games, where we're gonna use Black Scorpion Minis. Can anyone take a good Guess or better a comparison who have both Minis?

You will see some considerable difference there. Black Scorpion are huge. I have seen a photo with a lot of different wild West miniatures compared. I think it is to be found somewhere in LAF, just keep searching...

Yup BS are nearer 32mm whilst the perrys is almost true 25mm they will look tiny next to them. I would ideally stick with the BS gear or if you have to look else where some of the Westwind Cowboys (sold by Old Glory) are likely to be bigger or possibly the later Foudnry stuff not by the perrys

That's a shame, imho the Perry Box is the best ACW Sculp so far

You would need to look at Mark Fenlon ACW cavalry. Blue Willow will be selling the miniatures at some point this year. I've quite a few of the cavalry for both sides and they are the very best in design. The miniatures are taller than Perries and would fit in with other larger miniatures. The horses also are the very best too.

I don't have any of the Perry ACW figures, but I happily mix Black Scorpion, Artizan and the newer Foundry Old west range together.

I base the Artizan and Foundry on bases (the same type as the BS ones) and I hardly notice the height difference during my games.

I did have a photo somewhere, but I think I lost it during a pc crash  :'(

Yup they do seem to be extreme, I had some but only kept a couple from the dozen or so as character figures for deadlands

Here are some photos of the Mark Fenlon Cavalry. The Confederates I'll photographed the remainder tomorrow that I've in my storage, but are not painted as yet.. The cavalry shown here are from Michael Broadbent's painted collection.

Cheers,

Helen
