Title: What color is GW's Charadon Granite?
Post by: ErikB on 15 January 2011, 04:06:25 PM
I can't quite tell.  When I layer up with Adeptus Battlegrey and Codex Grey, they look like different color bases.

Is the granite color partially green?  My eyes can't quite tell.

I ask because I am painting up a group of Reaper's Nova Corp and I base coated with Granite and built up with Battlegrey and Codex grey for the fabric.  The body armor on one of the test figures is built up with Shadow Gray which is a blue-grey.  The colors clash and the combination doesn't look quite right.

If I can figure out what other color is in the granite, I will paint the body armor with a derivative of that so they don't clash as much.

Anyone have an idea?

I use it as one of my field grey base colours to good effect, so it may have a greenish tinge to get that effect.

Greenish grey brown... Very dark colour though.

It works well if you just drybrush it over black.
