Well this is the first project completed this year! The Asgard FM27v2 Half Troll Chieftain with a couple of slave orcs, one of my favourite miniatures from the mid 80’s. I used to think he was quite big at the time but 38mm to the top of the head he would probably only measure up to a big Orc these days!
Very detailed little minis increase the painting time a bit, the only extras added; a repair to the spike including moderate extension (I know, I know ) a bronze shield to the chieftain, and a repair/replacement to the pole arm of the slave orc; I think it used to be an axe head. The Chieftain has been lying around undercoated for more than 10 years, so quite happy its now fully dressed. Base made from critter clay and painted along with the miniatures in a mix of acrylics, oils and printers inks.

Like dexter, it's been a LONG TIME since I've seen an Asgard mini...true state of the art back then. AND I've never seen any as FINELY painted & based as your creation. EXCEPTIONALLY WELL DONE!

I really like the whole feel of the diorama. The miniatures are excellent, I really like Asgard sculpts. Really good stuff.
The shield and shoulder-plate are particularly good. Well done!

Mind bendingly awesome. I just started screaming like Ray Hudson when I first saw the pic. I love it when an ace painter gives an older mini some love.
-
Love it!!!!
I have been hunting for one of these for a long time now!

Viking Forge in the US still carries these. And I heard today that they will be updating their ancient website to take credit card orders in about 4 or 5 weeks. Woot! :D

Wow, very nice! I'm guessing the slave orcs are also Asgard?

No these are good news.
Want to get the "Black Dwarf" shown in an other thread of them, also a few more, but was not so sure about the money order thingy, never did that.

I don't get this half-troll, half-elf, half-orc business, especially not half-trolls. Who'd mate with a troll? They are *ugly*.
EDIT: Or is this Rule 41 acting up again?
-
nice nice! lovely paintjob... and is the shield totally freehand? :)
-
:o :o :o Stunning...absolutely stunning... ;D

A great masterpiace.....I like the vintage style of this little diorama....perfect painting.
The weathering on the shield is really well done.
My best compliments.

If a troll wants ya, he's gonna have ya! :o

Fantastic! Love the sculpt and the paint job brings it alive!

I have, they didn't look like troll's after a few beers - but the next day! That's how they get you - beer!
Oh a mispent youth!

Stunning work!
Where and how did you use printer inks?

Yes all Asgard

Shield was scratch made from putty, then using liquid putty for the relief of the face, then painted
Stunning work!

Just to be clear ;) 'Printers' inks as used in offset printing
These are a solvent based metalic paint which is slow drying therefore good to blend, oil colour can be added to change hues etc. works better with a bit of heat to cure them. All metals done with these. Downside is they smell and can be meesy if you spill it!!

Way cool paintjob on a fairly funky old mini. That face is just oddly flat looking! Wonderful work on the shield, and the whole piece is amazingly well executed. Top marks mate!
-
Absolutely brilliant!
-
Nice mini - what shampoo does she use! 8)
Like the dark colours you've gone for too.
Edit - oops sorry meant to post this in comment on GreyWolf's Elf - back on topic - could I reccomend a shampoo for the troll -
