Title: Pingpong in Tingtong
Post by: V on January 22, 2011, 09:21:09 AM
At Fort Pingpong the Steamer, Saucy Sue, has arrived to bring the Royal Navy detachment under Captain Stanley Much-Faffing to take over manning the fort and guarding the vital bridge. As the sailors move off they await the return of the local patrol and Colonel Charles 'Chuck' MacNorris they will be replacing.

Suddenly, out of the woods comes a massive attack by the Jade Dragons! Can they take the fort and capture the bridge from the clutches of the foreign devils?

Well, after a long and bloody struggle, they did manage it, but at tremendous cost (not much of a bother to the Jade Dragon leader!) to both sides.

It took the Chinese two attempts to get into the fort, the first being bloodily repulsed, but the second finally breaking in after the valiant Russian sailors held the gateway against twice their number of Chinese before eventually turning tail and running off! Honours also go to the Turkish detachment who shot down the Chinese gun crew despite taking a whithering blast of canister, the Kings Swahili Rifles who held the Customs House till the bitter end and the Chinese leaders who all managed to get shot at some point during the assaults!

So another victory for the Jade Dragons and a further upset to the European plans to dominate Tingtong!

Beautiful. Well done. A great looking table and some really excellent in-game shots there.

You are starting to give Ignatieff a run for his money!  ;)

Here, here, jolly good stuff ;D

Are you using Brother Against Brother for your games? I think I see the cards there? If so are you using any modifications?

Yup... we like BaB... Fast and fun. We use a few mods to make the Chinese a teeny bit better in combat for some units and adjust ranges for bows and crossbows. Indeed in this game the crossbow unit killed more than any other missile unit... and all its targets were in hard cover!

We also have some units that can always charge (Dragon Fanatics and Ghurkas) and some that are better shots (re-rolls). Simple stuff really.

Yep, they are a fun set of rules, I like your ideas for fanatics with no morale card for charging, and the other suggestions. We tried them once for the Zulu wars and they worked out very well.
