Been a while since I added anything on the forum. I've slowly been adding to my British army with some of the more exotic troop types, and always wanted to do some VSF engineers. In fact they started life as an idea for a Russian penal mining colony but I liked the other idea better so went for it in the end. I wanted a variety of different contraptions to reflect the variety of tasks they have to perform . These are not 'combat' suits as such..really just built for construction and demolition.

Brilliant :-* :-*
I've looking at my 15mm VSF collection with renewed interest. Hopefully it will turn out to be more than just looking lol

They are excellent :-* :-* :-*
Very VSF.
What have you used for the chest pieces?
I see MAK's and disney toys, what else.
-
Superb set of toys you have there sir - would you care to do a 'how to' article on your rust and dirt techniques? I've got some mining vehicles to complete and I'd like to get the same 'well used' look that you've achieved.

Wow! :-* :-* :-*

They are bits and pieces off the pegasus hobbies chemical plant, plus I bought for a few dollars a load of 'robo-gear' (airfix) stuff for the fists/ claws/ weapons etc. I kept some of the MAK's fairly intact and others I replaced the feet. Good spotting on the Disney Atlantis stuff. Drivers are mostly Copplestone pilots though one is Ironclad and another foundry.

No worries. I use a rust and verdigris paint with an activator which gives the really strong rust effects. However, for lighter rust I quite like the Tamiya rust and soot powders. Bought these from Antinocettis a while ago. A Tamiya mud stick is also a good investment. Basically you just base coat from black, then apply to the areas you want the effects to appear, wiping off with a rag so that the effect is strongest in the crevices and edges. It's really just trial and error and I cannot claim to have got totally consistent results yet! I will try to put together a proper 'how to' article when I get to my next armour project (WW1 tanks) in the not too distant future.
I also posted on workbench a couple shots of these along with my VSF/ WW1 buildings and posters on page 4 of the thread: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=13726.45

Fantastic stuff, very inspirational , I have some engineers for my Chelmsford expedition , think I might do some heavy lifting kit for them too.
-
Excelent work sir.
I might have to try a couple of similar contraptions myself.
Note to Self : I really must get round to posting my AVRE (Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers), based on a much converted) Evil Empire Leman Rus Hull.
-
They really are very lovely! In a grimy, rusty, dangerous sort of way.
I like your houses and signs too. Very nice indeed.
-
Cracking stuff there mate !!!!

The signs and posters are an excellent little touch. :)

I think it was possibly your engineers that gave me the idea a year or so ago..so thanks for being my muse.
We have playtested them using gaslight but the current hot tables for walkers or vehicles as exist really were not adequate for them, so we are writing some others. I use the royal 'we' as it's really Rabbitz expending all the brain energy on that one. But so far they've been very fun to play and slightly ludicrous in combat!
cheers!

Really great stuff there. So do they still call them Earthworks on Mars?

Lovely pieces of kit indeed.

You've just given me another idea for a roadsign...

I was recently opining on the 'geography' of Mars and decided it should be called 'areography'.
But as 'earthworks' is from ancient German and not ancient Greek (more or less *eordeweorc), we'd have to find out what the ancient Germans called Mars.
Best bet I reckon is to assume as 'mardi' (Mars-day) is renderered 'Tuesday' (Tiw's day) in English, you'd have to call them 'Tue-works'. On Venus of course they'd by 'Fri-works' (and 'geography' would be 'aphroditography').
Some people think it's a disease, but I do this for fun.

Don't know about you, old boy, but I reside on a ball of earth called Terra.
However, as John Bigbooté used to say, it's not my goddamn planet. lol
