Playing around... I mean planning... with the army lists in the CA rules I discovered some data items that were outside my limited knowledge base. The rules state they cover European versus European, European versus Tribal, and Tribal versus Tribal "armies' for 1870 through 1914.
Among the foes for the Austrians besides The Chinese (Boxer War I suspect,) are Russia, Italy, France, and... Great Britain.
Um, other than WW1 (if then) I am unaware of British versus Austrian combat. Any enlightenment?
Gracias,
Glenn

Not in that timeframe.

Weren't there a few stray Austrians which were absorbed by Lettow-Vorbeck? I think I read that somewhere? Mind these, were individuals, not Austrian units, so it doesn't really count.

That's outside the timeframe. The Brits fought the Austrians in the Great War on the Italian front, and there were a few KuK troops in Palestine, too; but he said 1870-1914.

No, though in 'Jungle Man: An autobiography of Major P.J.Pretorious', the best real life colonial memoir ever written (covers south east and eat Africa from about 1910 till the late 1920's), he does come across an Austrian explorer before the war. No action though...

I will recheck the dates when I get home but I was pretty sure it covers 1870-1914, not 1918, as the Age of Imperialism.

Hemingway met one of such stray Austrians and wrote about him in his Green Hills of Africa.
Edit: out of this time frame anyway.

Ed of THW (?) indicated the supplement I was using (not core rules, my mistake, same three ring binder,) was not official and was a WIP off the Yahoo group.
Oops.

Well there were some Austrian troops witth Maximillian in Mexico. But I guess that that is too early and they are under French comand. Also only Mexicans and no British.
