Title: Lord Cirencester
Post by: voltan on 29 January 2011, 07:30:38 PM
The freebie figure from Albinach/38 fest sculpted by Hicks randomly splattered with paint by me  ;D
(http://www.voltansshed.com/stuff/lordy.JPG)

Hopefully there'll be better paint jobs than mine along soon.
Uniform colours based on what paints I own. ;)

Really like that - figure and your paintwork, especially the face. Your paint collection didnt hamper him one bit.

How come all these shows I cannot get to have such fabulous freebies :'(

*cough* must say this is the only show freebie figure that I've actually painted, by chance I've decided to use the uniform colour in the current project seeing as it turned out rather well.

This is a great paintjob - nice work!

Do you mind if I use your photo in my next update of the VBCW minis guide website?

I've been browsing Ebay for that one. No luck, which is bad since I want, need and crave it.

Feel free, though I'm planning to try and do a better photo when I can be bothered to finish the base ;D

@Hammers

Not sure if you'll find anyone willing to give it up, tis a stunning mini

The good news, for those of you not already in the know, is that this figure and other related figures will be available some time in March from Paul Hick's own company. As soon as Mr Hicks decides to break the news and details, they will be posted here.
:)

Hastings, from the Gentlemens forum, also posted 3-4 on his ebay site: HERE (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=25mm+solway&_sacat=See-All-Categories)  :)

Jimmy-come-lately, there is a whole thread practically dedicated to the fact... ;)

I managed to procure one from a gentleman from GWP. A gentleman doesn't discuss money but I got it for free! :)

I know this... but not everyone reads every board and it seemed particularly pertinent for interwar. I admit that I subscribe to 'Behind the Times Magazine' and 'Yesterday's News' though.  ;)

Oh the old "I'm in Ikealand and can't make it" excuse eh? Well played that man... next time pretend I'm your cousin from Kalix.  ;)

That's the one. Careful wording is the key. :)

I am toying with the idea to order some more Eureka Grenadier Guards and paint them in all black as a body guard to his Lordship. Rather implausible but it would look kinda cool in a VBCW context.

Aye, it's another VBCW matching pair; like black and shirt, anglican and league, etc.

I've not been able to field my Lord C yet as I've run out of magnets for the bases so can't safely transfer it.

Is Sir Ian McKellen now the most modelled actor in 28mm? After several versions of 'himself as Gandalf' by the Perrys and others for GW, now we have himself as Richard III by Mr Hicks. I can almost guarantee someone somewhere has made an X-Man model of him as Magneto, and a Golden Compass model of the polar bear he provided the voice for... I await the Widow Twankey miniature with eager anticipation  :)

Ah, yes, that'd be nice. Believe it or not, I could really use one for LPL5.

Beautiful work. The paint job and the miniature itself remind me of Ian McKellen in the 30's Richard III.

EDIT: Which apparently is exactly what the model is supposed to be. Congrats to the sculptor for being able to make me see an actor's face in 28mm without even realizing it.

I had a bit of a panic last night as I thought I'd lost mine after driving hundreds of miles to be at Albanich.
After much searching he came to light. Now I've got to do a decent paint job on him.
