Well, here we are: a new project, and a new blog:
http://battle-of-frogonia.blogspot.com/
I suppose you'll want a bit of a teaser...
It's a team effort between Painting Princess and I, after our run in with the lovely chaps at Eureka! More soon...
-
Fun project. I've done a few of these guys too.
-
Great project! 8)
-
Great painting and concept! I want to buy some of those guys and paint them for my niece
Keep posting pics
Damien
-
They're a set for girls :-)
There's a great set with a king on a litter; he's wearing a crown and has an attendant holding a leaf over his head (painted pics coming soon) that might be good for your niece, Damien :-)

Thanks Painting Princess I didn't see that one when I went to the Eureka site. Its really nice, I think my niece would love that :)
EDIT: Painting Princess, I just checked out your blog, cool projects! Let us know when you update your blog.
Christian, I forgot to ask but how are you going to do the bases?
-
You're welcome :D
I'll put up a post about my blog when I've done some more work on my projects! :)
-
Great project!
Lovely paintjob, and I look forward to seeing what else you get up to.
I love the miniatures. :)
-
I have quite a few of these painted up myself. They are great minis aren't they - I like how you've "pirate-ized" them. Very cool.
Cheers,
Ben.

Thanks for the interest guys!
More pics have been slow on coming; we've been basing frogs, so not much more painting or sculpting at the moment.
But you can check out our progress at http://battle-of-frogonia.blogspot.com/ (http://battle-of-frogonia.blogspot.com/)
I've also posted my first attempt at sculpting on my blog http://painting-princess.blogspot.com/ (http://painting-princess.blogspot.com/) :? comments welcome :)
For anyone interested in the minis, the guys at Eureka have a whole bunch of different warrior frogs and turtles (http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_191&sort=3a (http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_191&sort=3a)) and also some funny little mice (http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_783&sort=3a (http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=87_126_783&sort=3a)) which I think go great with the frogs!
-
I like your first attempts at sculpting, correct me if I am wrong but from the pics it looks like you are trying to sculpt folds; they look good.
The froggy minis are just so cool, really like the hex bases, its little differences like that, that makes them stand out.
Cheers
Damien

And rocking those hex bases!
Very cool.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Thanks Damien :-) Yep, I'm trying to make it look like the clothes are moving along with the movement of the body.

Very cool.

The hex bases give the minis an entirely different look to the round ones. Amazing how much difference a base makes!

Great minis and lovely paint jobs - on a completely different tasngent - although inspired by your blog - personally, when in more whimsical frames of mind, I've always hankered after a set of woodland animals dressed in Edwardian garb brandishing cudgels and pistols so I could game the more exciting episodes from The Wind in the Willows! :D
-
War of the Willows. Like it.

Sounds like fun. Let us know if you find those minis, be interested to know how it turns out!

Hi all,
Some new progress pics on the Battle of Frogonia website! The royalist forces are steadily increasing.
Can King Ribbidibit prevail over evil? Or will Captain Pondscum become the new ruler of Frogonia?
Check out the latest on http://battle-of-frogonia.blogspot.com/ (http://battle-of-frogonia.blogspot.com/)
-
Yay your back! I really like Scrump, how are you going to finish off the bases? Are you going to try and make them marshy or look like a pond?
Damien
-
These are great!
Looking forward to a battle report.

Thinking on putting something algae-ish on the bases, some flock as well, so it's kind of like they're coming out of the pond onto grass ... does that even make sense?
These are great!
Looking forward to a battle report.
Hoping to have enough minis done to have a game at the end of the month! We'll see how we go, shall we?
-
Sure it does
-
Alas no game yet - the gaming horizon is looking a little bleak at the moment, I must say - but at least some progress on the troops!

Enjoy!
Thantsants: what's happening with war of the willows? Any luck finding minis?

Awesome! :)

Thanks, General :-)

Hi Princess, they look really good, are the bases finished (they look like they need a little green on them).
Damien
-
Nope, they are missing the green. Going to put some "grass" on the bases, but will probably do that at the end :-)
-
Nice work on those Royalists! :)

I'm afraid the small matter of the LPL has taken up most of my time these past ten weeks - the idea is still smouldering quietly in the back of my mind though...
-
Thanks :) they're great fun to paint!
Glad to hear the project is still on the cards ... good luck with LPL! I haven't checked the last couple of rounds ... which models are yours in this round?
-
... aaaand I've been slacking off on this.
They do look very good, and just about ready to beat the snot out of my pirates!
