Hello good people of the LAF,
long time lurker and finally overcame my "fear of posting". I am posting this on behalf of the owner of Scheltrum Miniatures, who is a bit of a technophobe and hasn't yet figured out this whole forum-thing:
Scheltrum Miniatures will shortly be launching a new range that will cover various revolutions and wars of independece in the years of turmoil just after WWI.
The initial release will include a weapons pack including:
Mauser G98 rifle
Mauser C96 pistol with stock
MP 18 (with "snail" magazine)
MG 08/15
Luger P08 pistol
Handgrenades
and various revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
Further packs will include armed workers, militarised workers, Spartakists, Volksmarine, loyal navy and police and possibly Freikorps and Freikorps Cavalry. Depending on the success of the range further packs will cover the German Baltic adventures, Grenzschutz Ost (Freikorps actions against the Polish), and the Polish-Soviet War.
Packs will most likely contain 4 figures and the price will be around the 5 pound mark.
Accompanying with the metal range Scheltrum will also launch a range of resin vehicles including:
Ehrhardt E-V/4
Russo-Balt AC
White AC (the French, not the American White)
A7V "Hedi"
A German Flak-truck
A Russian Flak-truck
and German and Russian lorries.

Cool stuff. Can I make a mention of the Hungarian–Romanian war of 1919? Always thought that might be an interesting one to game.
-
Welcome Karl... I can't believe much overcoming of fear was needed to post here surely? :o
Sounds like an interesting range too... there are several members here with an interest in this era, so hopefully they will be all over these! Be sure to keep us informed.
:)
-
Most intrigued! Looking forward to the vehicles in particular, there are far too few useful WW1 and Interwar trucks out there, but Freikorps cavalry - oh boy! That's what I am so sorely missing for mine (and I could never convince myself to try and convert the GWM ones)...
-
Welcome Karl... I can't believe much overcoming of fear was needed to post here surely?
Not fear of posting, more fear of technology! I know the fellow concerned and swear to you he works in an underground cell, scripting away with a quill! ;)
Theres been a lot of discussion and planning going into these and they promise to be a great range
-
Interesting. Please keep us informed. It would be nice to see pictures when they will be released.
-
Sounds interesting who is the sculptor?
-
PLEASE!!! make the vehicles 1/56 scale to match those of Company B, Tobsen and Copplestone.
There are already two Erhardt E-V/4 models out there...in case you want to develop something else.
The Russo-Balt and White ACs will be a welcome addition.
Thanks.
-
Can't speak for anyone else, but I am particularly stoked by this news!
-
Dear all,
to answer your question:
PLEASE!!! make the vehicles 1/56 scale to match those of Company B, Tobsen and Copplestone.
The vehicles will be true 1/56 scale.
Sounds interesting who is the sculptor?
Martin Baker is the sculptor of the range, the first batch of figures is being sculpted now, as soon as we've got the greens we'll post pictures.
Regards
Karl
-
I for one am happy that I might acutaly have some one to fight aginst my Freikorps
-
Sounds promising... photos! :)
-
I'd like to express serious interest too.
-
This should be an interesting range to watch!
I'm especially interested in the trucks - shortage of WW1/early 20s transport vehicles out there, as someone upthread has already pointed out.
And armed civilians/quasi-civilians can have all sorts of uses once they hit the tabletop!
-
Looking forward to these! ;D
If you haven't come across it the book on German uniforms 1918-1923 by Charles Wooley published by Schiffer has quite a few pictures of the Red Forces as well as the Freikorps and Reichswehr.
-
Interesting.
And something else... nobody makes eastern European / Russian civilians yet !
-
This will be a great boon if Scheltrum can pull it off. This is a huge promise to live up to. I am in for a large order if it comes to fruition.
Currently only the original Cannon Fodder figs, now sold by Blazeaway Miniatures fill the bill

And most of those are abysmal. I know, I have the originals. There are various Foundry and BTD figures that will pass muster with a little paint and conversion. Even some of the earlier Cannonfodder Anglo-Irish range are better minis. Foundry tend to be a little on the small size and BTD has an appalling reputation for filling orders but there are more options out there.
-
i like the sound of the weapons packs :D
Can you do a MKV & a MKV* as no one else in the UK produces one, there's only Brigade Games that make a MKV
-
Ha, yes not up to Old Glory or Musketeer standards, but one man's abysmal is another mans joy (or at least another man's OK). These fill in with lots of other ranges to give a good total collection.

I'd suggest possibly making a Daimler Marienfelde truck.
You see them all the time in photographs of the period, but no one makes one yet.
I agree that the Cannonfodder figures are decent enough to fill in some gaps in other ranges.
Also usable are Volksturm figures with rifles from many of the WW2 ranges.
-
Great news, this will surely come very handy when making freikorps units for AVBCV, not to mention other very interesting conflicts.
-
Hello everybody,
I'd suggest possibly making a Daimler Marienfelde truck.
I'm quite sure that the truck that my mate is building is a Daimler. The Russian truck will be a Russo-Balt. Another possible vehicle, if there is room in the mould is the Sturmpanzerwagen Oberschlesien which, granted, never saw the light of day, but is just too cool a vehicle to pass up on. More info here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturmpanzerwagen_Oberschlesien (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturmpanzerwagen_Oberschlesien)
As a progress report: the vehicles are in the fine detailing stage and I hope to put up some pictures of the WIP at the weekend, Monday the latest. We are also expecting the first greens back in the course of next week, IIRC armed workers.
We're chuffed there is so much interest in this range and we'll do our best to live up to the expectations.
Regards
Karl

Can't wait to see the new range - The Freikorps in the Duchy of Tradgardland project just took a step closer...
-
Dear all,
here is a, blurry, WIP shot of the Erhardt.
Some more can be seen here:
http://s1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd520/KarlWimper/ (http://s1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd520/KarlWimper/)
There are more pictures, but my mate, being the technophobe that he is, cannot manage to email them to me. Once I have them I will add them to the album on photobucket.
Regards
Karl
-
Looking good. :D
When are the weapons packs out?
-
Hey Aircav,
thanks for you interest.
When are the weapons packs out?
They should be available shortly before Salute at the very latest.
Regards
Karl
-
Dear all,
I have now uploaded the remaining pictures into the photobucket album. There are pictures of the Daimler Marienfelde, Russo-Balt lorry, the German and Russian Flak trucks, the Erhardt, the Russo-Balt AC, the White AC, and the Hedi.

Karl

Doing my happy dance for the 2nd time tonight :-*
-
I really like these. My only criticism is that the fellow in the first picture is holding his Mauser in a most unnatural way. I think the rifle should be turned over so his hand is over or near the trigger guard instead of over the bolt.
-
Interesting stuff - let me know when these are ready for release and I'll add them to my VBCW website.
Regarding the weapons packs - any plans to do double-barrelled shotguns?
-
Great - will be getting some of these - maybe at Salute.
-

I agree, simply turning the rifle over would look far more natural.. and with far less fumbling when he needs to bring it down to use it. That aside, they are nice looking figures and I'm sure they will be a popular range.
:)
-
Agreed on the rifle, I couldn't quite figure what it was but that is it. Really like the minis.
-
I'm really looking forward to this range, especially the vehicles. The upheavals, in Germany, from 1919-1923 is a very much overlooked, but interesting, period in history....the vehicles, and the figures, will make a fantastic addition for wargaming some great scenarios :) Is there an updated ETA for the Erhardt?
-
Oh dear, this will put my finances in a pickle! Echoing Tannenberg above this is a very interesting but oft overlooked period. I've been fascinated by it ever since reading Waite's seminal Vanguard of Nazism and look forward to seeing how this range progresses.
-
I'm especially looking forward to seeing the trucks, actually. I know, not as interesting as the armoured vehicles and such, but there's already a number of era-appropriate armoured vehicles out there but a real shortage of medium/heavy trucks for the late-WW1/immediate post-Great War period.
The Spanish Civil War/early WW2 era is well-supplied with trucks, but not much out there for earlier gaming!
The figures look great too - armed workers could be useful in a variety of situations beyond the post-WW1 revolutions as well.
-
Are any of these anwhere near ready for release yet?
-
Dear all,
my apologies for the long silence, I have been away on holiday (in the Heimat) and was a bit out of touch.
The vehicles are being moulded up at the moment and should be available at Salute this year.
Same goes for the models. Martin is sculpting Volkmarine, Spartakists, and Fighters of the Rote Ruhr Armee (Red Army of the Ruhr
), as welll as a light machine gunner (MG 08/15) and ammunition carrier.
The following items should be available at Salute:
- all of the afore mentioned vehicles
- Armed Workers/Civilians
- Volksmarine Sailors
- Spartakists
- Fighters of the Red Army of the Ruhr
In addition to this Scheltrum now also make a set of barricades. There are ten individual pieces each approximately 80 mm long, they are made from resin and will probably be sold in set of five random barricades. The barricades themselves are comprised of all the things one would expect to find in an urban environment: doors, pianos, beds, cupboards, desk, dug up copplestones etc.
As well as some of the weapons packs. There is actually a question that cropped up regarding these: what do people prefer? A pack with a mixture of weapons, one of each type, or packs that contain multiples of one type of weapon?
Regards and good gaming,
Karl
-
I would say make generic packs of multiples armed with rifles and and shotguns, and then specialized mix weapon sets with grenadiers, pistols armed, smgs, Light and heavy MGs
-
When will the vehicles be available online for those of us in the U.S.?
Thanks

You'll be able to order them from the Scheltrum webpage, which is undergoing a major overhaul at the moment because the current one is a bit of a mess, after Salute. You can always contact the owner directly via the email address on the webpage.

Saw this thread and really like the sculpts. Apart from gaming the period intended (agreed it is a fascinating period) a couple of ideas that spring to mind would be to make the German International Brigade up from many of these for Spanish Civil War, and of course an alternate reality VBCW. Any new pictures of the sculpts available?
No update of the website or pre-ordering information. Thoughts on when this might happen?
-
They'd work fairly well for any urban militia... but other than a degree of blond hair and blue eyes, German brigadistas looked like everyone else, other than a better choice of surplus Spanish equipment as one of the earliest units formed.

are you going to have your own stall at Salute or will it be on some other copmany stand?
Cheers
-
Dear all,
Sholto (the owner of Scheltrum Miniatures) send his apologies regarding the somewhat derelict webpage. He is working feverishly at the moment to get all the packs, vehicles and barricades ready for Salute.
are you going to have your own stall at Salute or will it be on some other copmany stand?
Scheltrum is going as a trader to Salute with their own stand.
Unfortunately we have discovered that the email address on the webpage is wrong, or rather the information was not changed, when the email address changed. The correct email address reads as stated on the webpage but ends in .co.uk instead of .com. As I said before, Sholto is somewhat of a technophobe. Apologies again.
Because the time before salute is running rather short, we didn't have the chance to take pictures of the new sculpts before they were send to the casters.

Karl

Hi Karl....did you get my pm?
-
Was looking at the Falkirk show and did not see Scheltrum Miniatures on the list :o
shame since i was going to buy loads of stuff of you on this subject :'(
what show are you going to this year
David
-
I got a copy of their catelogue and when they sent it through they said that they will be at Carronade :)
-
Carronade is on the 7th May - PM me if anyone wants more details
-
Hey,
yeah I can confirm that Scheltrum are going to Carronade (Falkirk) this year.
Regards
Karl
-
Just a comment on separate weapons, a Lewis gun would be great! Not many of those kicking around.
-
Does anyone know whats happening with this range?
-
I bought the Daimler Marrienfeld truck and a Russo-Balt Flak wagon at carronade yesterday. Pretty happy with them, only issue I had was some instructions would have helped and some pre drilled holes for positioning the stuff would have avoid my thumb getting skewered by my pin vice :).
Have primed them and put a couple of Scarab gun crew on the flak gun will try and paint them fairly generic so that they can be used for a number of periods and armies.

Beautiful! A Freikorps Flying Column just became feasible! :-*
-
Thanks for sharing. These look good. Are there any other vehicles/ terrain pieces for this range yet and if so does anyone have any pictures? I thought I remembered reading about street barricades etc. And has anybody managed to order online yet? I still can't see them on the site :(
-
Hi there,
the paper Catalogue I picked up at Carronade lists:
an improvised tank
Daimler Flak wagon
Daimler Marrienfield truck (half track and truck option)
Erdhard AC
Russo-Balt AC
Russo-Balt Armoured Flak wagon
Russo-Balt Flak Wagon
French White AC
I think all were available but not all were on display i did see the figures and barricades as well, the chap admitted he needs to get the website sorted.
-
thanks for the list
Did he sell drivers as well? Does anybody sell generic drivers for this sort of period or even better WW1 type drivers?
cheers
-
Those trucks look great, thanks for the photos.
Will have to pencil them into The List, as noted before there's a huge shortage of WW1/1920s trucks!
-
Nice list. those two trucks look great! all in 1:56??
-
when can we buy all these figures?
-
Any news about the range and website?
-
Very good point - there is no interwar stuff listed on their website :(
-
Hi Guys
This is all well and good ,but not so much when you cant purchase the stuff . lol
What about the updating web site from April??
-
Months ago, I got the product list by email. Then I ordered two armored cars by email. Received them quickly. No problems.

I personally prefer to see pictures before I buy something. Hopefully he will update the website soon.

Check back through this thread, I'm pretty sure all the vehicles have photos here, back a page or two. It is unfortunate the website hasn't been updated, though.

Hi, great trucks but was more interested in the miniatures.
-
some here: http://mightyminiatures.wordpress.com/2011/04/22/scheltrum-miniatures-volksmarine-range/
-
Tried to email to Scheltrum to get a inventory/price list. Message delivery failure.... anyone have any luck contacting them lately???
-
Hi
I Dont know what is going on here either this site was being" updated" months ago .
Actually I do but dont like to admit it ..I guess its one of those back yard mobs...might as well try an order from Stronghold Miniatures...lol
Pity
-
Try PM-ing the OP... Karl Wimper, he may be able to help you out with contacting them, or shed some light on any problems perhaps. :)
I'm certain some people think that folk set up these businesses, often on a shoestring and as a hobby, churn out some lovely looking stuff, then go off radar, just to piss them off personally though. The guy from Stronghold has had some real world problems to deal with, so I'm told, and this may also be the case here... or not. :?
-
I sent a mail to scheltrum@gpa-humphries.co.uk and got a reply within a working day, with a PDF catalog.
There aren't any pics available apart from the ones on this thread.
-
I talked to the owner this morning. The website was set up some years ago and ran well enough at the time. At some point however the website host and Scheltrums ISP fell out and stopped "recognising" each other, with the net effect that Scheltrum coulnt make changes to the site. The annoying thing was that they failed to tell Scheltrum about this and so the problem went unnoticed for some time....
The website is being updated as we speak as there are two new ranges to add - the Scots Isles and Highlander range and the range above.
The best email address to contact Scheltrum is -
sholto@gpa-humphries.co.uk
Any continued problems - let me know. I have no direct connection with Scheltrum but Sholto is a good friend whom I see regularly.
-
Thanks for the information! I hope the problems will be solved as soon as possibible ;)
-
Need these, right now!
