Title: Help with Westwind SOTR British Infantry
Post by: Thunderchicken on 03 February 2011, 08:42:37 PM
I got hold of some of these figures today and I need some help trying to work out some of the detail on them. I can see they are wearing some sort of body armour but I'm confused by the straps and other gubbibns decorating the back of the figures. Can anyone help me out with a pic of how they've interpreted them?

Cheers.

I just finished some of these, but I lack a camera with the ability to photo minis well. The straps go over the shoulders to hold up the webbing pouches on the chest and also support a tarp and folding shovel hanging over the soldier's rear.

The figures look a bit "busy" at first, but after I used Devlan Mud on them I could see everything clearly.

Big Frank's done some bloody nice british troops, I'm sure they'll be good reference pics posted in his thread.

Hi, New Here.

The figures are sculpted with the British 1944 Assault Vest, not body armour. Hope that helps you make sense of them.

The British vest was a prototype and there is alot of discussion on whether it was used or not, but hey, this is 1949  :D

The SOTR figures are very busy. I still haven't figured out just what's on the backs of the US infantry. Is it a knife? A radio thing? Blehhhh!

There's more on my "British Army, A start" thread, on the Avatars of war page, on the Secrets forum.
 Hope this helps.
