Title: Nameless Design "Giant Deep One" painted!
Post by: Alxbates on February 12, 2011, 01:23:12 PM
The link I posted in the other thread wasn't working for a lot of people, so here are some direct pictures:

It's a great model, fun and easy to paint!  My only complaint was that the skin has so much texture I had to thin my wash down a bit more than usual to fill in all the little warts and crevices.  I had to use a whole nother extra two drops of water... :P

OOOOOOOO! VERY NICE...in a spooky sort of way! I love the varying shades of green, & the base rocks.

Oooohh!  :o The "phosphorescent" green on the gills reminds me of the critters I saw in Rhodes! And of Rime of the Ancient Mariner for that matter...

The painting is very nice with good, subtle use of shading and contrasting! Very pleasing to the eye. I only have one tiny criticism, and it's a personal thing, but the mould lines could maybe have done with being cleaned off before painting. But that's just a personal thing because I've been getting into the habit of cleaning them, and it's become quite noticeable. Otherwise I LOVE it! I especially love the cryptic eye-stripe.  :D nice touch!

Fantastic paintjob, the eyes in particular!

I agree - that mold line down the front belly has been bothering me ever since I took the pictures.  It's much less noticeable in person, I think the light I had set by the camera is really making it stand out.

Plus, I was all excited to paint it, and I rushed the assembly/cleanup portion of things...  *sigh*

Thanks for the compliments - I'm quite pleased with how the figure turned out, especially the eyes (which, again, look better in person, I think...)

Believe me I know the feeling! I do really like the figure though, and your painting defo does it justice.

Painted very well, but the eyes are what really stand out; they are very original!

Great painting

Alex,

I'm really sorry about your excessive usage of water while painting a Namless Design miniature. We currently have our shipping department bottling up a replacement amount of water as well as 1000 of our various miniature designs, a full copy of the 1978 Encyclopedia Britannica, and a waffle.

Really dig the paint job! Thanks for showing it off. :D

Nicely painted....

I do have to say it has a nice quality of a 'man in a rubber suit' about him.

Yes, it has rather a scooby doo vibe to it I feel.
